store just north of S.F. that wifie always 'drags' me into.  Certainly there 
must be scores of other shops scattered across the lands that deal in natural 
dyestuffs.    She, claims,  that this shop has 'things' that many other 
stores lack.  But I did check their website and they have both natural and 
synthetic indigo dyes.  
    Let me know if it is indigo,  the preprocessed plant you are seeking.  I 
understand that the indigo plant processing is a rather grueling ordeal of 
fermentation and dessication.  Good luck.......flea

Like I have nae hearrrd that beforrre...G

A couple of things that I like about wearing the kilt are 1, On a hot day a
little breeze goes a long way ...G and 2, at 52 years of age my kilt got me a
beautiful 24 year old bride.
And one more thing...I may wear a kilt from time to time but I never, ever
sashay...G

I am known to be sharp tongued, short tempered, and humorless.

It is not the words you use, it was the way you used them.  You do not use 
the words in "the way those guys talked".  Until you are more conversant 
with the vernacular it might be best to just speak in your modern 
voice.  Old words were used in old ways, you (and damn few others) don't 
have a grasp of a true and effective old style.  I believe Strunk & White, 
The Elements of Style, ISBN: #0-02-418200-1, caution strongly against 
trying to affect an idiom in one's writing style; few have the talent to 
employ same successfully.

Some only make fools of themselves trying to effect what they consider an 
"ol' timey" way of writing" (I'm actually thinking of someone else right 
here, don't take this sentence personal).

It was not just your one posting to which I took offense.  The first time, 
and every time, you used the word coon: you offended me, you don't have the 
bones to call anyone on this list a coon.

I can call myself a mountain nigger, you can't.  Some of the people on this 
list that I've known well for 20 to 30 years could get away with it: in 
private.  Get the point?  It is also how it was then.

I am not pc and take strong offense at the suggestion of same.  You can be 
the most experienced woodsman in the world, but I've heard that before from 
braggarts and liars.  It is what you know that you share, it is how good 
you are on the ground, us believing that you are more than BS ain't going 
to come from a few words on a magic box.

Don't try and tell us that modern ways ain't no different than old ways -- 
until you really know something about the old ways.  We were all born in 
this century and we all learned new ways first.  The best of the new ways 
nearly killed me before I learned old ways that work.

We've never claimed to be the sole possessors of knowledge, people of the 
rabbit stick I have nothing but respect for, and have learned much 
from.  Can you walk naked with empty hands into the desert and survive; 
indefinitely?  There are others with knowledge specific to their learning.

You seem to have forgotten you threatened Dave with a knife in your 
posting; some of us take words seriously, even when the writer thinks they 
are cleverly obscured.  You speak of humility in your opening and closing, 
the words between betray you.

Being such a "young" pilgrim under the tutelage of the good Captain et al,
wet behind the ears, unsure which end of the gun the wee little lead sphere
goes into, could get lost in the city park,  ect, ect..... I generally keep
my mouth shut in this august company out of concern of appearing uneducated
in the way of the woods....

How-so-ever, all this talk of sa..... sha.... sashaying mountaineers,
friendly horses, and worried sheep has me a wee bit concerned.... all I
have to worry about with the Wilson Hunt Price party is digging latrines,
fetching & carrying and the other sundry duties of a youngster surrounded

Lanney is dead on  about the linnen thread, the last  roll of Barbours 
linen six ply I purchased was  $35.00 or so about 10 years ago.  This
"Cheaper than Dirt"  thread seems to have a more glossey  finish than 
the Barbours,  but it looks like linen, smells like it, tastes like it
and 
sews exactly like it.  Being a natural fiber  it takes dye well.

for the last  3 years I have been promising to put up a web site on tipis,
well....there is a site going up right now.  Hey, I have two computers hooked
up if you are wondering how I can two things at one time.  It is still going
to be several days before most of it is up because of the heavy load of
photos.  Which also means it takes time for it to down load on your side.
What I need it impute on what you think, though this is not strictly 1830s or
so, and how to improve the pages.
