According to the CTIA, the FBI has presented to several key senators a proposal to attach to the Appropriation Measure for Commerce, State and Justice language that would extend the FBI's rights under the existing Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA). What the FBI is seeking includes a requirement that wireless carriers provide information about the location of mobile telephones, simply on the strength of a lwe enforcement agent's claim that the information could be relevant to the investigation of a felony, CTIA spokesman Tim Ayers told Newsbytes. The FBI also wants to prevent carriers and equipment manufacturers from petitioning the Federal Communications Commiccion (FCC) to rule on whether any FBI demand is reasonable, the CTIA said. Under the CALEA, the FCC can be asked whether a demand made under the act is too costly, would have a negative impact on competition, or would negatively affect subscriber rates. The CTIA claimed that eliminating this recourse would in effect mean the FBI could demand "compliance at any cost." Source: Houston Current Technology, August, 1998, Page 14. Skolnick - ---------------------- (Office: 773-375-5741; Recorded message: 773-731-1100) Using little-known special teams, the Clinton White House intends to muzzle certain members of the press corps who have put interesting and incriminating details in their reports. Clinton White House senior advisor Rahm Emanuel, a reported top operative of Israeli intelligence, the Mossad, has ostensibly been ordering the following on behalf of supporting Clinton's agenda: 1) An intensive review of the psychological profiles of reporters assigned to the White House. Any so-called "flaw" in their background will be leaked to press outlets friendly to Clinton. Psychologists and psychiatrists are being ordered to violate patient-doctor privilege and to divulge files of past emotional disorders. Some are even offered inducements (financial or career advantage) to exaggerate any such "flaws." 2) Pressed into service, at the behest of Mr. Emanuel and his cronies in foreign and domestic intelligence, are a group of special teams of FBI Division Five, counter-intelligence, in the past accused of "dirty tricks," as well as little-known teams of DISC, Defense Industrial Security Command, once headquartered in Columbus, Ohio and now consolidated near the Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. In foreign press reports, DISC, in the name of nuclear facility security, has engaged in apparent assassinations of dissidents. 3) The U.S. Secret Service has been ordered by Rahm Emanuel and other White House aides to consider lifting and revoking press credential clearances of certain reporters assigned to the White House press corps. 4) The National Security Agency has been ordered by Rahm Emanuel and others to quickly supply summaries of all fax signals and telephone voice communications of certain White House reporters. 5) Rahm Emanuel has ordered the head of the Securities & Exchange Commission and the Commodities Futures Trading Commission to immediately order an audit and review of all stock, bond, commodity, currency, options, futures, and related trading done by any of the White House press corps on the select list. Certain reporters are being investigated on their trading patterns in these markets, as well as the trading patterns of their extended families, including parents, in-laws, and first cousins. This, in view of allegations that certain reporters have been using inside information to profit themselves and/or their extended families. Certain reporters have allegedly called their brokers from the White House. 6) Rahm Emanuel and others have ordered the Comptroller of Currency to immediately require the review of accounts in federally-insured financial institutions of the reporters on the select list. Allegations: certain reporters mis-using banking connections. 7) All communications industry contracts with the federal government, such as military games planning divisions of certain networks (like CBS) are ordered to be reviewed, so as to induce media to order some of their long-time reporters to be re-assigned to less sensitive positions. 8) Contacts of Rahm Emanuel on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange have been persuaded to turn over to the White House details of trading accounts by White House reporters on the select list, as well as their extended families. 9) While some White House reporters contend they have not signed national security oaths, some media contracts reportedly have embedded in various terms of their contracts clauses that can be construed as requiring national security violation avoidance. 10) The elite group of Internal Revenue Service, the Intelligence Division, has been ordered by various present and past White House officials, not limited to Rahm Emanuel, to immediately review the tax returns, or failures to file, of reporters on the select list as well as their extended families all the way to first cousins. The Treasury Department's Office of the Inspector General has been ordered to review allegations of too-close friendship of reporters on the select list with IRS agents, employees, and officials. Allegations: certain reporters side-stepping audits through IRS cronyism; non-disallowance of questionable deductions. 11) Rahm Emanuel and other Clinton officials have ordered the FBI and other intelligence agencies to immediately make their files available showing any subversive past histories of any reporters on the select list as well as any of their extended family all the way to ex-wives, first cousins, and such. 12) Certain portions of all this have already reportedly been offered to Brill's CONTENT Magazine for possible future publication. 13) Local bar associations are being persuaded by the Clinton White House, through acceptable intermediaries (cut-out from Mr. Emanuel), to review the acts and doings of the handful of attorneys specializing in representing media employees in their contracts with networks and affiliates -- for example, the six attorneys in Chicago specializing in such work. 14) Rahm Emanuel and others have ordered a compilation of domestic relations matters from the Clerks of various courts: divorce and legal separation petitions; transcripts of court proceedings that could be used to scandalize reporters on the select list; statements of ex-wives as to child and spouse support misdeeds by ex-husbands; child violation misdeeds by ex-husbands or ex-wives. Also instances of purported sexual perversions as shown by such records; membership in questionable "cults." 15) Media critics, through cut-outs, are being offered some of these details as ammunition to use against reporters on the select list. Not for commercial use. Former Naval Officer seeks Hearings The Pittsburgh Tribune - Review August 2nd , 1998 Christopher Ruddy NEW YORK - An uninformed visitor to the hangar housing the Boeing 747 that was once TWA Flight 800 might have no inkling of the mysteries still surrounding the doomed jetliner. More than two years after the crash, the meticulously reassembled aircraft almost looks as if it could take to the skies again. As investigators went about the reconstruction, they also tried to reconstruct what happened to the aircraft just off Long Island on the sultry night of July 17, 1996. TWA Flight 800, after a routine and uneventful climb to some 13,000 feet above the Atlantic, suddenly turned into a hideous fireball of death and disintegration, consuming all 230 aboard. The National Transportation Safety Board report on the crash concluded TWA 800 exploded as a result of a mechanical failure that precipitated an explosion in the jet's center fuel tank. In reaching that conclusion, the NTSB dismissed many eyewitness accounts of some sort of light shooting toward the plane just before the explosion, suggesting a missile, either a hostile or "friendly" one fired by accident. NTSB, along with the FBI, noted that witnesses can honestly confuse what happened in the instant before a momentous event with what they actually saw just after. According to official explanations, eyewitnesses saw nothing more than the explosion of the plane and falling, burning fuel. Many of the government's conclusions about the crash have been dissected and are being challenged by William S. Donaldson III, a former U.S. Navy commander who served as a pilot and military plane crash investigator. On July 17, Donaldson issued a 109-page report on his personal investigation. He submitted the report to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and its subcommittee on aviation. Donaldson and a media watchdog group, Accuracy in Media headed by Reed Irvine, are calling for congressional hearings on Flight 800. Donaldson's report cites circumstantial, eyewitness and forensic evidence in reaching the conclusion that TWA 800 was "intentionally destroyed by a powerful, proximity-fused, air-bursting anti-aircraft weapon," launched just one mile off the coast of Long Island. Among the key items of evidence Donaldson uses in building his case are parts of two passenger seats. According to the NTSB, the disaster occurred when - due to unknown causes - a fuel-air explosion took place in the center tank, severing the fuselage forward of the wings. Most of the plane, the board concluded, continued on minus the nose for two nautical miles in a generally eastward direction and dropped virtually intact into what investigators later labeled the "green debris field" of the ocean off Long Island. This is the region of debris farthest from JFK International Airport, where the flight had originated some 12 minutes earlier, and where divers located almost all of the wreckage. But early in the recovery, parts of two seats were found in what was designated the "red area" - that part of the search area closest to JFK. These seat parts were clearly identified as having come from the rear of the plane, suggesting some very serious problems with the NTSB's version of how the aircraft disintegrated. "These particular seats were a headache right from the beginning," noted Alan Brock, a New York State Police investigator who helped reassemble the passenger cabin. He told the Village Voice, an alternative weekly in New York City, that when his crew was finishing up their work a year later, "they were still arguing about it." "The discrepancy," explained Brock, was that the seat parts "should have been located in the `green field,' the last one, because they were from the back of the plane, the last five to 10 rows." Faced with this incongruity, NTSB challenged the accuracy of the tagging of the seat parts. But Brock and some of his colleagues stood their ground: "We said this is the way they came in tagged; this is the way we were leaving them." The red tags weren't removed, but a special set of tags was added for a time and then eventually removed. An NTSB document obtained by the Village Voice acknowledged that these seat parts, from rows 46 and 48, were recovered at least one nautical mile closer to JFK than where the main wreckage was found. No explanation has been offered for how, in the NTSB's scenario, these back-of-the-plane parts could have broken off first. Significantly, Donaldson notes that the center fuel tank was one of the last items to fall into the sea, in the area farthest from JFK. Had the fuel tank been the source of the explosion, he argues, it should have been among the debris found closest to JFK airport. Donaldson, who is convinced that a missile exploded outside the plane, also cites some strange readings from the flight data recorder. The recorder indicates a normal flight until 20:31:12 (8:31:12 p.m.), when the airspeed supposedly dropped to 100 knots - a speed at which a 747 would plummet earthward like a rock, according to a TWA spokesman - and the plane dropped more than 3,000 feet. Curiously, a CIA video reconstruction of the disaster shows the plane climbing another 3,000 feet after the explosion. Clearly, says Donaldson, the flight data recorder readings are insupportable considering the subsequent flight path. He contends the false readings are the result of instruments on the outside of the plane being hit by a shock wave from the missile explosion. "Every damn bit of data that comes from that airplane fits with a missile burst," Donaldson told the Village Voice. The eyewitness testimony, he argues, can't be dismissed. "If you have two or three eyewitnesses to murder, you have a very strong case in a court of law," Donaldson wrote in his report. In the TWA 800 case "there are hundreds of eyewitnesses who are convinced they saw a missile shoot down Flight 800 . " Among those witnesses, Donaldson claims, are two off-duty FBI agents who were fishing and saw what they believed was a missile. Neither filed an eyewitness report. Donaldson identifies one of the agents by name. He identifies other witnesses on the ground, at sea and in the air at the time the plane exploded: * Engineer Paul Angelides, Donaldson estimates, was just a mile from the launch point at his Long island home. Angelides said his house shook and he watched a missile move southward toward its impact with TWA 800. * Al Gipe, a former Navy gunnery officer, was sailing some 25 nautical miles off the coast of Long Island when he saw what he thought was an emergency flare go up. * Richard Goss was on the North Shore of Moriches Bay when he saw a missile launch from the sea, level off and then streak southward to an explosive impact. * Air National Guard helicopter pilot Maj. Fred Meyer was some 200 to 300 feet above Long Island's south shore when he saw a light moving in an arc across the sky, ending with a "hard or high-velocity ordnance explosion." TWA 800 was using Jet-A kerosene aviation fuel, a stable fuel that is difficult to explode. No Boeing-built plane using Jet-A fuel has ever had an explosion caused by mechanical failure, Donaldson states. The NTSB concluded some 600 pounds of jet fuel remained in the center fuel tank after the plane's flight from Greece to New York. The NTSB theorizes the tank became superheated while waiting on the runway in New York, vaporizing some of that fuel. Vaporized fuel is much less stable than liquid fuel. But Donaldson argues the fuel was not superheated. Indeed, he tested the temperature inside the center tank of a 747 that had just arrived at JFK from Europe and was scheduled to return. The temperature was 69 degrees, just one degree above ambient temperature. As for the claim that the center tank had 600 pounds of fuel, Donaldson says that's a false assumption. TWA Capt. Albert Mundo, who piloted the plane on its nonstop flight from Athens to New York, claims he had emptied the center tank. These and other points were made by Donaldson at a Washington press conference held last month by Accuracy in Media. Donaldson's report received scant media attention, but his arguments have won some converts. Dr. Vernon Grose, a former board member of NTSB and a frequent television commentator defending the NTSB's ruling on the crash, has changed his mind and has joined with Donaldson in challenging the government ' s conclusions . ========================================================================== This mailing list is for discussion of Clinton Administration Scandals. Bill Clinton To Gennifer Flowers, taped phone call "I never told anyone to lie. Not a single time. Never." Bill Clinton, Press Conference, January 1998 The Ten Commandments are on sale. Senator Orrin Hatch, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, is offering a 20% discount: on Sunday, he said that if the President had lied under oath about his adultery with Monica Lewinsky (and presumably others), he could say he "did it to protect his wife and daughter". And he added: "I think it would be a very smart thing for him to do." Would it indeed? Was the Senator speaking on behalf of the Judiciary Committee, the Republican Party and the Lord Himself? Forgiveness is certainly an important doctrine of the Christian faith, but it is normally preceded by genuine repentance, rather than by presidential blackmail of Mr. Hatch with regard to the latter's involvement in the BCCI scandal. In any case, examples of sincerity and contrition are somewhat sparse in=20 President Clinton's history. Senator Hatch's generous but unscriptural offer to disregard two of the Ten Commandments will not suffice for Bill Clinton. Quite frankly, he hasn't done too well with the other eight. In fact, it's hard to find one he has kept. =20 The public outrage with Bill Clinton is only marginally concerned with his Oval Office frolics. Apparently, 95% of Prosecutor Kenneth Starr's report deals with other matters, as it rightly should. Mr. Starr has been provided an =E1 la carte menu of felonies from which to choose:=20 bank thefts, embezzlements, frauds, cover ups, every imaginable form of political corruption, and the unexplained deaths of 107 of Mr. Clinton's associates and colleagues over the past few years, as well as the routine assassination of reputations in the White House. And thanks to Mr. Clinton's violation of the Eighth Commandment, 'You shall not steal', the indolent are now subsidized by the industrious, the poor remain in poverty rather than being given hope and opportunity to succeed in life, and Western Civilization, once glorious with freedom, democracy and faith, has been reduced to miserable serfdom. Mr. Clinton has now been encouraged by a distinguished senior Republican to elevate the sound bite over sincerity. Senator Hatch's remarks provide further evidence of the elevation of grace without the necessary balance of truth. As we have often remarked, America is drowning in an ocean of grace: it is becoming one of the world's most decadent societies. Orrin Hatch is not in a position to dispense grace without repentance or truth. He has placed himself, and perhaps his Party, in the position of enabler to the most addicted, corrupt President in US history. And by association, he has tainted the Republican Party. =20 He has also provided a useful reminder that, in reality, there is a difference only of emphasis between the two parties. He said he knew nobody "at the top of the system" who wanted to see Mr. Clinton "hurt in this manner". With those words, he states the nub of America's problem and crystallizes the frustration of so many Americans who cannot see beyond the system of serfdom which has been constructed around them: a small, powerful group of business leaders owns the media, three-quarters of the natural resources and oil industry and much else in American industry. And if James Collier's book, Votescam, is accurate, they also rig the voting in elections to ensure the success of candidates most compliant to their desires.=20 Only one person could benefit from Senator Hatch's remarks. It isn't Bill Clinton, even though it may allow him a few more months of attempted fascism. It isn't the putative Republican nominee in 2000, Gov. George W. Bush, and nor is it Vice-President Al Gore, who stands to inherit Mr. Clinton's repulsive mantle. No, it is Howard Phillips, =46ounder of the US Taxpayers Party, an increasingly attractive alternative to those who believe the Scriptures are not subject to amendment, even by the venerable Senator Hatch. In an exclusive interview with Exegesis this week, Mr. Phillips said: "Bill Clinton is still in office solely because the Republicans have refused to do their constitutional duty to impeach him on the grounds of bribery, treason, high crimes and misdemeanors. It isn't just a stained dress: it's stained missiles."=20 In this era devoid of moral absolutes, it hardly helps when conservative politicians who claim to defend biblical values place sycophancy to a corrupt president before the Ten Commandments. What is it about Bill Clinton that causes his staunchest opponents to go wobbly at the knees and swoon in his presence? In Margaret Thatcher's famous words to George Bush, "This is no time to go wobbly." King Solomon put it this way: "There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death." (Proverbs 14: 12). Just because tolerance is good in terms of race relations does not mean it is man's greatest universal aspiration with regard to sin, creed and all else. Our reluctance to seek, find and follow the Way, the Truth and the Life has resulted in a national inability to distinguish good from evil. Consequently no action is deemed unacceptable or wrong. That may be the way of liberalism, but it isn't God's way. =20 America's problems will not end with the departure of Bill and Hillary Clinton, even if their end turns out to be less dramatic than that of their apparent mentors, the Ceaucescus. They have nurtured into being a dreary, post-Christian, politically-correct society which in many cases, understands nothing, believes in nothing and aspires to nothing. They and their media cohorts have so mesmerized a great nation into a state of nothingness that people are willing to believe the exact opposite of what their eyes tell them. The descent began on November 22, 1963, when millions saw President Kennedy shot from the front and fall backwards. Within hours, reporters began to convince them that their eyes had deceived them, that he was actually shot from behind a tree at his rear, with a bullet that had a mind of its own, ricocheting from one person to the next and jumping somersaults like a Russian gymnast. The media-government collusion, born that day of desperation, developed into the axis that now rules America. More recently, Monica Lewinsky's famous dress was handed over to the FBI for testing a few days ago, and the results are not yet known. Yet on January 29, 1998, the CBS Evening News reported: "The FBI testing is complete, and no DNA evidence or stains have been found on Lewinsky's dress." The deception was corroborated by Time Magazine. How do they get away with it? Because you indulge them! America deserves better. The way back to reality will be long and difficult, but this Saturday, on the first American Renewal Day, we plan to make a start. We will not be ashamed of the Ten Commandments or the Gospel. Indeed, they provide America's foundations. And I, for one, would appreciate your support and prayers for protection and blessing as we embark on America's recovery. =87 Steve Myers =D7 Editor =20 ************************ AMERICAN RENEWAL ************************ Come to the most exciting event of the summer! Former Clinton strategist Dick Morris says Clinton=92s personal ratings would go from the mid-40s into the low-60s, and his job approval rating would crack 70 percent. But the calming effect that such a speech might have could prove to be the eye of a hurricane. After the president=92s grand jury testimony on Aug. 17, most observers expect that Ken Starr would deliver a report to Congress sometime in September. Such a report would likely run hundreds of pages and the Monica Lewinsky scandal might take up less than 10 percent of its content, making it difficult to contend that Starr=92s case is solely about sex. If the report piles up example after example of presidential stonewalling and abuse of power, it might be impossible for Congress or the public to dismiss or downplay it. The media may continue to emphasize the salacious, but Judiciary Committee members are likely to focus on the legal facts of Starr=92s case. - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------= - ------------------------------------------------- Partisans on both sides are in a state of Monica fatigue and wish the scandal would be resolved. - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------= - ------------------------------------------------- Even the solicitous Orrin Hatch, who practically begged the president for a mea culpa on =93Meet the Press,=94 was careful to note that public tolerance of presidential perjury would stop if there were credible evidence of abuses of power. Morris, for example, is worried about what presidential aides and allies may have done to intimidate and threaten witnesses =93without Bill Clinton telling them to, but knowing that he would want them to.=94 Morris says the White House=92s pattern of overreaction to scandal allegations is =93Nixonian.=94 The Washington establishment=92s desire to put the tawdry Lewinsky affair behind it with a presidential apologia is understandable. Partisans on both sides are in a state of Monica fatigue and wish the scandal would be resolved. But if the story of a presidential liaison is true and that is all that must be confessed, the unresolved issue is why did the president erected such extraordinary roadblocks to the truth for seven months? =93That=92s a good question,=94 former presidential adviser David Gergen admitted last Sunday on NBC. =93I wish the White House had been more forthcoming.=94 A mere speech is unlikely to settle matters after seven months of stonewalling. Even the most emotive and heartfelt speech by President Clinton may only prove to be emergency surgery that can=92t prevent the slow spread of a cancer on the presidency. - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------= - ------------------------------------------------- John H.
