Anyways I wrote to him, got his list, sent him a check for a few items, and to make a long story short THIS GUY RIPPED ME OFF FOR $70.00 !!!! His email address is no longer good, and I havent seen him posting to this list anymore. So did anyone else get ripped off by this guy? Does anyone even know this guy? It should be out in March, since everything but the paper is done. Bill Laswell on bass, Ninj on rhythm tracks. Disney album on Avant did not come out in February as someone had posted it would be (and I probably repeated.) The recording is about half done. Duet with Brain on Avant has not been recorded yet. It is still planned for recording and release this year. The above information came directly from a conversation I had with Buckethead last week, so it should be correct (the Meta information I already had from other sources.) A recording called _Giant Robot_, *not* the Laswell-produced and Sony Japan only _Giant Robot_, should be on CD in the near future. This was produced by Pete Scapula and has Brain on drums. Unless Buckethead is playing bass exactly like Bootsy, there are uncredited Bootsy bass tracks. I forgot to ask Buckethead about this one. It was recorded last year. There is no label, it will probably be a private release. I suspect that the same person played on some Sister Sledge songs too. Sorry about the irrelevance. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Mar 1996 23:45:17 -0600 (CST) From: Me To: Zorn Digest Subject: Buckethead and other Laswell stuff Message-ID: Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII -CDNow lists a March 19th release date for "Day Of The Robot" as well as Distill, the new Divination album. Has anyone been having a hard time finding SubMeta releases at their local Tower or comparable shop? I have yet to see either of the two releases to date at Tower records. I wound up buying Possession at Borders of all places. -DJ Ninj, who Jeff mentioned is providing the beats on "Day Of The Robot" is also the DJ who will "duet" with Derek Bailey on his upcoming CD "Jungle" on Avant. -I heard that Laswell has some involvement on a new CD called "DUBADELIC 2000: A bass odyssey" on Wordsound Records. I was wondering if Jeff or anyone else knows how much, seeing as how WordSound releases are kind of rare around here (I just found Crooklyn Dub today). I wound >up buying Possession at Borders of all places. SubMeta is distributed by Caroline, so it should be in most Tower stores. I think the problem with Possession and Second Nature may be that most Tower stores have no idea where to put them becauyse they use restrictive category systems. Every Tower store buys for itself, so there can be problems with availability at some stores. Away from urban and college markets, the selection can be much less diverse. If it weren't for Pulse pushing some outside stuff, some of those stores would probably have the same selection as WalMart. That is the current release date, and it will probably hold for Divination, but Buckethead has the artwork for _Day of the Robot_ and release depends on turnaround on the art. > >-DJ Ninj, who Jeff mentioned is providing the beats on "Day Of The Robot" >is also the DJ who will "duet" with Derek Bailey on his upcoming CD >"Jungle" on Avant. > >-I heard that Laswell has some involvement on a new CD called "DUBADELIC >2000: A bass odyssey" on Wordsound Records. I haven't heard from the Wordsound people in a long time, but I might be able to find out about this one elsewhere. They may have one of the unreleased Automaton tracks. Other records for April: CLASSIC GUIDE TO STRATEGY (both volumes?), a Leo Smith, XENO-CODEX by Elliott Sharp (with the Soldier String Quartet), FILMWORKS II (reissue of the recently released Toy's Factory record).
