Taken from this weeks NME (last wk April 1994): "Orb chip in with new album" The Orb release their new album 'Pomme Fritz' through Island Inter Modo on May 31st. Described as a 'little' album - as opposed to a mini album - a culinary theme runs through it. The tracks are 'Pomme Fritz Meat and Veg', 'More Gills Less Fishcakes', 'We're Pastie To Grill You', 'Bang 'Er 'N' Chips', 'Aller Ist Schoen' and 'His Immortal Logness'. Legal problems with The Orb's former label Big Life have prevented them releasing a new album since 'UFOrb' nearly two years ago, although Alex Paterson and Thrash are rumored to have recorded a substantial body of work in that time. Legal problems of a different nature prevented Paterson from DJ-ing recently in Moscow. Paterson accompanied by NME, was playing at the Pilot Club in Moscow with Autechre and The Aphex Twin. Apparently the local militia objected to The Aphex Twin's set and removed him from the decks. When Paterson tried to take his turn DJ-ing they started pushing and jostling him. Paterson sat down on his record box and refused to budge, repeating "F--- off!" over and over, adding, "That's the only language you people understand." (Full story next week.) Meanwhile, The Orb play a show at Dublin The Point on May21st. Tickets are available at 17.50 UKP from HMV, 65 Grafton Street, Dublin 2. There is a 2.25 UKP booking fee for postage to the UK. The credit card booking hotline is 0103 531 679 5364. > From this weeks Melody Maker (edited to remove anything stated in above article): "The Orb Crack A Joke" The Orb have recruited original Killing Joke drummer Big Paul Ferguson for the live gigs they're planning later this year. They've already comfirmed the first, which takes place at Dublin Point on Mat 21st.It's a late-night event going on until 2am. Alex Paterson met Big Paul when he roadied for the Joke in the Eighties. It's thought that Ferguson's decision to join The Orb was instrumental in his turning down an offer to join Youth in the recently reformed Killing Joke line-up. ...Many of the tracks on the LP [Pommes Fritz] have been co-written with Sun Electric Berliner, Thomas Fheldman.
