But if that same dealer appeals to me for information, I must then either not respond, or else give or sell my honest opinion. If a non-dealer appeals to me, I am under particularly stringent obligations to be fair (but not positively charitable- I explain to them that I have earned my way and paid my dues, and deserve a decent profit, et yadda, yadda, yadda). If the bidder who won this junky copy of the book had called or e-mailed and asked for advice about how high to go, I would have told him I felt the price was already too high - I really would.
