I actually avoided buying a copy of this single when it came out since the song annoyed me, and only my completist leanings are now resulting in my desire to own a copy. Most would agree that "Aubrey Mixes" is far rarer (and simply better music) than "Perpetual Dawn", so I will have to ask that those of you wishing to trade should offer at least one other thing from the list. Should I fail to receive any such trade offers, I will set up an auction, where "Perpetual Dawn" + cash offers will be acceptable. Sorry for any confusion this has caused, and sorry for wasting bandwidth on the list. Question for anyone and everyone: It seems that there are two items which everyone goes apeshit over: Aubrey Mixes and Orbscure Trax. Now, how rare, exactly, ARE these? What *I'VE* gathered is this: Aubrey was printed and deleted the day it was released--TWICE (possibly three times). Orbscure Trax was limited to 1000 copies. If Aubrey was printed twice, I would assume that it's not as rare as Orbscure Trax. Why don't we all just start up Geocities, Freeyellow and tripod pages, with a simple home page and use the 2Mb or so of storage given to hold Zipped up parts of the files. I assume everyone here knows how to unzip from multiple disks. This would work perfectly if we could fit a whole song onto each site but I fear people might become a little bored with that lark after about 20 zillion attempts to download part 4 of 6 zip files for their favourite song which just won't download properly. What are the possiblities of turning it semi-commercial? i.e. everyone contributes a small amount to the cost and we issue passwords to all those who contribute. We could even make some profit and use it to buy small gifts for the band, asking Monsieur Smiley to pass them on when he gets a chance. '72' was originally called 'eros', and andy said the _whole_ track is called '72', not just the sample before the silence. the silence was put in to make the cd exactly 72 minutes long, but the mastering plant f****d up the PQ times, so the cd came out at 72m02s or something. i THINK he was serious... e. yesterday was the first day that they'd had ALL their equipment together and up and running, and they were working on a track that afternoon, and were playing around with it while we were there. so that was pretty cool, seeing how a track mutates over time, adding bits here, messing around with samples and stuff - no track names or anything, but it sounded pretty good, quite hard sounding. i'll have to work on andy to let me have some samples of stuff when there are some finished tracks, so i can post them for your perusal.....but don't get your hopes up. so there we go. hope that was of interest to some of you all. oh, and finally, CONGRATULATIONS to andy and his girlfriend, as they are expecting a new addition to the family...so he's obviously not spending enough time in the studio! ;-) l8rs. - -- Smiley # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info orb" in the message. # Postings must go to orb@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. # Latest Orb info: http://www.theorb.com/orbulletins.html -- look here first! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Jan 1998 13:58:55 -0400 From: beRt d'Eon Subject: Re: (orb) latest orb news direct from the studio... I don't understand exactly what you mean by 'rip off' remix thing. I wonder which SP Andy and LX wanted to get? I think cEvin, and maybe "Philth" Western and Anthony Valcic should go ahead and do they're own remix album (if it's not too much of a legal hassle with Nettwerk).
