If there's anybody out there who hasn't picked up Original Fire, logoff and go to your record store now. The rest of the songs are decent, Helter Skelter '97 is incredible, but the CD is worth getting just for Radio Babylon. As far as remix suggestions, there's a whole bunch, just to see styles clash, like Aphex Twin and Autechre, or something like that. Someone mentioned David Bowie's Space Oddity which is a great pick. Others mentioned some Beatles' songs, I'd choose Strawberry Fields Forever. (But then Lx would have to knock on Michael Jackson's door in order to get the rights, which may be interesting. ;) Another pick: The End by the Doors. _________________________________________________________ Joseph Jun Graduate Student Deptartment of Physics, Univ. of Ill. I found it very odd that the Gong and Can remix albums came out quite closely to each other and I noticed (at least in my opinion) that on the Gong album, the System 7 mix is superb and the Orb one poor; and on the Can album, the Orb mix is exceptional but the system 7 one is poor! Just seems odd. Having said that, I wouldn't skip the orb track on the CD cause it still grooves in that luvely orby way but I don't think the guys put a big enough stamp on it. All they seemed to do was put it through some sort of CoolEdit Batch processing thing and come out with an Orb sounding track....sort of like the way Pink Floyd did Division Bell - they just produced a Pink Floyd sounding album. On a completely different topic though, does anyone know how I could possibly get a message to Andy Weatherall. He does a monthly residency here at my local university, and I really want him to play some Coil/Orb/Download/Scorn and other juicy stuff. I know the crowd would hate it, but all he has to do is play them when the lights come on! It would make me and my mates (and probably some other fans in the audience) so happy. And it beats the shit out of finishing the night by slowing the record down or just fading the music out! Plus, I would love him to organise a get together on the stage; a live performance by Mick Harris (Drums and samples), Bill Laswell (Bass and more bass), James Plotkin (Guitar and effects), Franz Treichler (vocals and guitar) and Andy Weatherall (mix and decks). Oh how happy I would be!!! Sorry, ranting again. Ronan FitzGerald - ---------------------------- u9350276@queens-belfast.ac.uk, Belfast, N.
