I checked into what each of the former members are doing, it seems like Ann Dudley is the most active member- like you said she's responsible for the Soundtrack to the "Full Monty", as well as being credited (or discredited-depending on how you want to look at it) with string arrangements for the Spice Girls "Spiceworld", and Elton John's "Big Picture". Jay Jeczalik produced an album called "Northern Exposure 2" by DJ's Sasha and Digweed (never heard of either) but the album is supposed to be great if you're into "electronica". He's also produced a single for Frankie Goes to Hollywood which I think came out earlier this year. The other official member is Gary Lanagan, and I have no idea what he's doing. The biggest news I uncovered was that AON apparently released a single in '95 on China records entitled "Yebo". I don't know if it was ever released in the US, I've never heard anything about it before today. Does any one remember when "alternative" meant "creative" or "innovative" or at least "interesting"? It's like that Seal remake of Fly Like an Eagle by the Steve Miller Band: it sounds like it, but there's no soul.... At least when Devo, the Cramps, and the Dead Kennedys did remakes, they made them sound even better. With Devo, they redid: Working in the Coal Mine, Satisfaction, Secret Agent Man, and Are You Experienced? The Dead Kennedys did wonderful "remakes" of I Fought the Law, Rawhide, and Viva Las Vegas. The Cramps did better-than-the-original versions of Goo Goo Muck, Rockin' Bones, Muleskinner Blues, Bop Pills, Green Door, Tear it Up, Route 66, Her Love Rubbed Off, and countless others. And at least when the Orb and KLF sample stuff (technically remakes, I guess), it's done in a creative manner. But I was talking Orb list member off-list about remakes, specifically Joy Division and New Order remakes. Nine Inch Nails did a less-than-adequate remake of Joy Division's "Dead Souls," and was featured on the Crow soundtrack. New Order's "In a lonely Place" was covered (abysmally) by another group on the Crow: City of Angels soundtrack .... BUT, speaking of Joy Division remakes, check out the Joy Division tribute album, half of the songs on which suck, but the other half make it worth while. The highlight: Moby's doom 'n' gloom remake of "New Dawn Fades," one of the most powerful Joy Division songs.... It's even more depressing than the original (this is a GOOD thing!). Hey, if Moby can do it, why not the Orb? Maybe an Orb vs. Joy Division project. Or an Orb cover of Gothic songs in general: Orb Goes to Hell, or something like that. Maybe a track from Bauhaus...Hollow Hills would lend itself nicely, or All We Ever Wanted Was Everything.... Party of the First Part, for that matter.... - --Vincent p.s. I don't know what happened to it, but it's not up any more. He had two singles, West 4 and Teach Me, and the album artofsilence.co.uk. It was pretty good stuff, more dancefloor-friendly than AoN. For those looking for the Orb connection... AoN's "Ambient Collection" was mixed by Youth, who did some stuff with the Orb and System 7. I was also a big fan of AoN, and when I finally got a CD player in the early 90's I bought all their albums, and a friend on the 'net suggested other similar CDs, like 808 State, Aphex Twin, and the ORB! As I recall, Trevor had a few moments of fame in recent times when he was involved in a lawsuit with Frankie Goes to Hollywood. I think he (and Frankie's management) were suing Frankie for amounts they claimed they were owed by Frankie. Frankie claimed Horn et al hadn't done much for them. Horn et al claimed that Frankie was a struggling fringe band until given the proper production and marketing necessary to survive. Horn et al won the case and got their money. On the news, they showed some of the evidence presented in the case - the video of "Relax" before and after Trevor had a go at remixing it for public consumption. The differences were staggering.
