If, as many agree, that Jesus was born in 4 B.C., and he was crucified at the age of 33, he would have died in the year A.D. 29.... And the Church was "officially" begun with Jesus' Resurrection, which ushered in the new Kingdom, so-to-speak, so shouldn't THAT have been considered the Year One? Based on this, the millenium should not end for another 31 years, in the year 2029.... In other words, it's really only 1969 right now (). Besides, the actual date is relative to the culture which imposes it. For example, the Islamic calendar (at least according to some coins that I have from Morraco) shows that we are in the 14th Century, and I believe the Chinese calendar has us at least 1000 years beyond what we hold. (I could be wrong about this....) Although I'm a practice member of a certain Christian persuasion, I think the whole millenium thing is a big joke. If the world ends, it will have nothing to do with a supernatural occurence, but rather, as Liquid's (?) friend mentioned, it will be a direct result of us "fucking ourselves up the ass," or something like that. Speaking of Millenium, that's a pretty cool show. Better than the X-Files, IMHO. It's had some pretty cool music on the last several episodes of this past season. No Orb or FSOL, alas, but interesting nonetheless.
