The Boston Acoustics Micromedia system is about a $240 powered computer speaker system that happens to sound beautiful. I live in a condo, so I'm not after alot of DB's, just clear, beautiful, dynamic sound -- this system is hard to beat for that. It's perfect for setting up a "listening station" with your favorite recliner and CD player. IMHO, a pair of $200 or $300 headphones are worth every penny, and will give you the best listening environment without spending thousands of dollars, and without disturbing the neighbors. http://www.bostonacoustics.com/multimedia/systems.html http://www.sel.sony.com/SEL/consumer/ss5/accessories/digitalheadphones/mdr-d 55.html http://www.sennheiser.com/dh_1d010.htm The Sennheiser HD 600's are the best headphones I've ever used, but don't expect to drive them with a Discman, they take a pretty strong signal to push them to their limits. I chose the Sony's because my Discman could push them just fine, and the difference in sound between them and the Sennheiser's is only noticeable in the very low end, they fold up nicely for travel, and work great for DJ'ing. Does anyone have opinions on other headphones, or recommendations? On a sidenote, is anyone here into DAT? I don't have a DAT Player/Recorder as of yet, but I figured it would be a great media for trading music, and I'm thinking of getting a Sony PCM-M1 -- there are several other music circles that use this format almost exclusively to trade (and bootleg) music (Greatful Dead, etc.), but I don't hear it mentioned too much here. Who collaborated on it? Is it available on any singles album? Or is it just a preview of what the next album will be like. I like that track a lot, and have not heard any others tracks like it.(i haven't heard all the albums yet though) - -Chris # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Jul 1998 10:48:52 GMT From: Smiley@cracl.demon.co.uk (Smiley) Subject: (orb) Re: orblivion question "K.C." writes: > I'm new to this list, so HELLO ORBSTERS!!!!! mornin'! > I have a question about the secret track at the end of Orblivion at the 5.14 > minute mark. What is it called? the WHOLE track - the 6 seconds, the gap, and the 'secret' track - is called '72'. it was done to make the whole cd 72 minutes long, but someone fucked up the pq times when it got mastered, so it's actually 72.02 long. the track was originally called 'eros'. > Who collaborated on it? just the usual suspects - andy, lx, etc. > Is it available on any singles album? err, there isn't even a singles album, but there's one in the pipeline. > Or is it just a preview of what the next album will be like. from what i've heard of new stuff (admittedly, very little) the newer stuff is a lot harder, beats wise. however, this may have NO bearing whatsoever on what turns up on the next album. cheers. - -- Smiley # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Jul 1998 10:27:45 -0400 From: Danjel van Tijn <6tdv@qlink.queensu.ca> Subject: Re: (orb) orblivion question >I have a question about the secret track at the end of Orblivion at the 5.14 >minute mark. >What is it called?
