What gives? Well, guess I'll have to start up something new and meaningless.... I proposed this to another individual in an off-list message a few minutes ago, but I figured I could send this one off for comments from others. Basically, I was disappointed to find that there are no new mixes of the song, "UFOrb" on the UFOff album. (Granted, I may not have been looking close enough....) But this is my all-time favorite Orb track. I just love the way it starts off completely "spacey" (God, I sound like a freak or something), but then out of nowhere this absolutely KILLER bassline starts up.... Folks, this is THE track that turned me onto the Orb.... The only other bassline that comes close to this (in the Orb catalog, that is)--that is, as far as being this cool--is that from Cocksville USA, another track which is completely, uh, spacey for a couple of minutes, but then this bassline starts up...later on, ANOTHER bassline comes in, complimenting the one that had already been "set in motion".... (IMHO, incidentally, the ONLY bassline in music history that is BETTER than either UFOrb or Cocksville USA is that from "Excercise One" by Joy Division....) Actually, the bassline from the Frank deWulf mix of Blue Room is rather cool. I think it was Brent who pointed out that it's actually the "regular" Blue Room bassline in reverse.... I haven't been able to confirm this yet (I need to run it through my sampler, and reverse the waveform), but it sounds like it might be.... Later! I'd have picked the Fila mix, but that's just me. By the way, if y'all haven't checked out Fila's latest album Power Clown I wholeheartedly recommend it. Well, I pretty much agree with some other responses that you should _never_ give out any production community strings or passwords to any support organization if, for some reason, they have to get access to your gear. Either change the passwords/strings first or if the device in question supports more than one password use that facility. (I had pushed for multiple NMC community strings at one point for just this purpose among others, but unfortunately it hasn't been done yet). By giving out such information, you are implicitly trusting the _entire_ organization to which you gave it out, since you really have no visibility to how far that information may be available internally. You're also implicitly trusting the organization to ensure security of the information in general (aka this web access), something over which you have no control. BUT, the real reason for the address is that I named by late night ambient / dub / chill out / eclectic radio show (only a Student radio station, but its a start) "Midnight In Europe", because it sounded like it would be a good name.
