Alex Patterson told me the second time I spoke with him that "Texas is the first place in America that 'Little Fluffy Clouds' reached #1". I guess that's cool. That's more than likely the reason I heard "L-F-C" in 1990 when it was realeased. To be honest, I didn't get into the Orb until June 92. The very first day "U.F.ORB" was available on import, I tripped on LSD the first time. This was also the first high I''d ever experenced. "Towers of Dub" was the first music I had heard on any enlightining subtance. (alcohol doesn't count since it always deadens my brain) I've been a fan since. The track listing is as follows: Disc one: 1.Assassin (the oasis of rhythms mix) "kinda the single version" 2.U.F.Orb (bandulu remix) "good and dancey, not as good as album) Disc two: 1. Assassin (radio 7) "Edit of 'oasis' mix" 2. Assassin (Another live version) "before Live 93' this was the only version to be released. Recorded at Galstonbury 92'" Note this is a driving track, but it's more than likely not the version Skiez is looking for. (more on that in a minute) 3. Assassin (chocolate hills of bohol mix) "An ambient version, great for using in a remix. "clocks are everywhere!!!!!!!" Skiez this is more for you. I saw the Orb in Dallas in 95 on the "ORBUS' tour. They played a version of Assassin that was quite relenless. pounding you with the main heavy beat over-and-over. This version is not on any official release. It might be on a bootleg. Check around, look for live bootleg made on the 'ORBUS' tour. You might want to check "Dipping into the cyberworld" on the 'Ultraworld' page. The version of "Towers of Dub" on this CD is the version I heard in dallas, but I'm sure it has differences since it was recorded in Woodstock and in the UK In my opinion Assassin is one of the more under-rated Orb tracks. I'm glad to see it on the 'Best of', so more people can enjoy it. Oh by the way: Back in 94', I did win 2nd place for my mix of Assassin in the "Absorb the Orb" remix contest. That somehow dosen't surprise me that LX had nothing to do with that remix as it really isn't all that. It has this sample of a girl throughout the whole song repeatedly saying..."wow i just found my first dime for a Sprite" (rather odd sample to choose, i wonder what they were smoking in the basement that day?) and the music is pretty good but not phenomenol. Don't get me wrong, this mix is not that bad, just not any of their most phenomenol work by far. It is worth picking up the whole More Signs Of Life compilation for though as the rest of the music on the comp is really wicked. A lot of really intelligent ambient/dub music that is along the same types of records i saw LX spin both times i saw him play three hour DJ sets when i was living in San Francisco. Since then, I've tried *again* to order it from each of the sources I listed above and all have failed. What I'm asking is simple: if there is a physical, in-stock copy at a record store you frequent, would you consider picking it up for me and shipping it? I'd be glad to send $$ in advance. This seems to me to be the best approach to actually getting a copy. Your help will be appreciated, believe me. This is a big gap in my Sun Electric collection I'd like to fill. Thanks in advance. There's an album by him called "For To Next And Not Or" that is actually an album (For To Next) and a freebie disc that came with the album originally (And Not Or) combined. I' m not mistaking the CD with the "Auntie aubreys" album. I have that as well. Listen San Antonio has about two handfuls of Orb fans, we all have copies of the record. The ones the chains order(i.e.Blockbuster, hastings, Musicland, etc.)they just sit on the shelf because no one here really knows who the Orb are. Chris just asked me for one. I'll try to find another one. I'm pretty sure they're two copies floating around. Also I know where a copy of the double cd copy of U.F.ORB is. It has blue room (40 min) on the second disc. MAybe some one out there is looking for it.
