The group is made up of four members of the last incarnation of King Crimson so, this being the case, the group was assembled by Robert Fripp (FFWD). The concert was really quite good, and pretty much all Fripp did was 'Frippertronics' and midi trigger stuff. Very nice, and at the beginning of the second act he came out ond did about 5 minutes of the Frippertronics solo before being joined onstage by the drummer, who used an electronic drum set and some sequences here and there throughout. Also onstage were a bass player and a guy with something called 'touch guitar', which looked like guitar with like 10 strings on it, maybe even fretless, though I can't remember. The band were incredible players, though the bass player seemed a little insensitive to the 'concept' of it all, almost like he was just at a jam. All in all a very experimental, enjoyable show, but too short at around 75 minutes total, and expensive for the length. But if the show comes through town and you have the cash I'd definitely recommend it, if for nothing else than to see Fripp and realize just how much material must be his on FFWD. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 03 Nov 1998 12:29:23 +0800 From: Kael Driscoll Subject: (orb) doh! sorry guys.. wasted bandwidth there by resending that projekt Four stuff :( oh, and here as well it seems, by apologising for it obviously just not my day today :) KL # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Nov 1998 20:37:28 -0800 (PST) From: steve robles Subject: Re: (orb) thread of 6 digrees > Sometimes it is too much too handle. Like I said a month ago -- bastard record labels will do anything to hype a release. I guess I would have been alot more pissed off if they would have said the US release will be exactly the same as the UK, and have it turn out to not contain all the tracks the UK version does. BTW, I found the Ltd. Ed. U.F.Orb on Big Life with Blue Room single for $10.99 used at some store down in Portland last weekend, perfect condition! It was the only Orb disc they had. I guess the fact that I'm obsessively dedicated to finding Orb stuff occasionally pays off..... Did any of you know this? I heard it today, they downloaded it off a pirate site, i think there was actually 3, but they only got the one that was on the CD and the second one that wasn't released. Went over to bryan's house and he showed it to me.. Description was like "2nd remix of NIN's The Perfect Drug" .. He played it, it sounded like they took alot of sounds from The Downward Spiral and looped them, mixed in alot of strange shit and trent screaming the perfect drug over it, many fast drum beats, it was badass, but I didn't even know it existed.. Did anybody else know about the other 2 mixes that never made the CD? Or did anybody hear the 3rd one I didn't? # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 3 Nov 1998 22:28:37 -0500 (EST) From: the mechanic Subject: Re: (orb) Re: orb-digest V2 #130 %Does anyone know of Orb alises that they use in either when recording %other music or if they go out of tour?
