Well, the "Perpetual Dawn" mix is very different (am I misremembering? I actually remember liking the mix - wasn't it a shortened Solar Youth mix?), but then again if you've got the "Perpetual Dawn" singles you don't really need the single-disc "Ultraworld" either...am I right? Yeah this is right... The singe disc version Has a completely different version of perpetual dawn. The one with the Vocals on it can't quite remember it offhand. But it is on The Perpetual Dawn Single... Boy, just to clarify Spanish Castles in Space is missing from the 1CD. Perpetual Dawn and Star 6&789 are replaced by versions found on the Perpetual Dawn US CD. Star 6&789 isn't just an edit, it's a completely different version (okay, the "zitcom" sample at the end is slightly edited) According to the discog, Backside of the Moon is missing too, though I don't remember that... oh well, I guess memory is the first thing to go. =) I too had the 1CD version from Big Life first, but sold it when I got the 2CD version from Island. I missed the phase ii mix of Star 6&789 which was one of my favorite tracks, but then I got the Perpetual Dawn single and all was well... FWIW, the vocalized Solar Youth Mix of Perpetual Dawn can be found on U.F.Off. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 4 Nov 1998 16:49:04 EST5EDT From: "Vince Frank" Subject: Re: (orb) Re: Prank > Wheres Chuck Heston and Malcolm McDowell when you need them? ===>Do you mean Roddy McDowell? I thought it was only music without interviews. But I enjoyed it, really. Never tried with Orb music (although some samples from ABTUW have been taken by LX from here). Now I've got that image from Douglas Adams' _The Restaraunt at the End of the Universe_ going through my mind. Basically, Arthur throws the letter "Q" from a Scrabble game into a privot bush. The letter strikes a rabbit, which runs away in terror, and is eaten by a fox. The fox chokes to death on the rabbit, and dies in a nearby stream. Arthur is somewhat dismayed when his girlfriend dies a few weeks later from a disease--which she got after drinking water which was contaminated by the body of a dead fox. Douglas Adams told it much better, I assure you. To make this somewhat Orb-related (and to play that 6-degrees of Kevin Bacon variation)--Douglas Adams is thanked in the credits of Pink Floyd's _Division Bell_ (he came up with the title, according to David Gilmour). Floyd has an album called _Animals_, the cover of which features the Battersea Power Station (with a Pig floating overhead). The Orb, in turn, used the Battersea Powerstation on the cover to Aubrey Mixes.... (And apparently on the cover to Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld, although *my* cover is just a boring black with the purple logo over it....) Yeah, it's a stretch. Oh--actually, I forgot...scratch the album cover idea: Pink Floyd's "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" is sampled on the Peel Sessions version of "A Huge Evergrowing...." QED. :-P Later!
