Its not like the Orb wont get picked up by another label (or have the contract transferred). Just because these labels are cutting bands (and employees) doesnt mean that any of the cut bands wont be released somewhere else. The Orb might even be able to renegotiate a better contract (or not). Even better would be if they started a label, like Richard James and Rephlex. I would be very interested to see what kind of music they would publish. Hell I bet we could release Orb stuff on the OAA (Ok bad joke, but i think thats where things should go with all this eventually). Record companies are in big trouble (not that im complaining) and hopefully all the traffic in mp3's will change the structure of the music business for the better, forcing more direct and efficient distribution of music and more open markets with lower entry barriers. Go and listen to Orblivion. you will notice that there also appears to be a "hidden track". In fact that track is actuallythe song "72" (am I right here? I don't have the disc with me) and on UFOFF you will notice that the "hidden track" is also on the song "72".. Personally, I thought that this was very dumb, but at the same time, the orb thought that the entire project (UFOFF) was very dumb and didn't want to do it (from what I gather), but the label basically forced them into it... - -ben # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 22 Jan 1999 21:13:02 -0800 From: Steve Shah Subject: Re: (orb) UFOFF [re: 72] It started life as a hidden track on Orblivion. (i wouldn't want to keep the video, the other party could have it, i just *really* want that audio sample.) love, kisses, etc. ryan in nc superfastrunners, superfastrunners@pobox.com ryan platte, ryanplatte@pobox.com part, part@pobox.com http://pobox.com/~part # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 23 Jan 1999 09:11:06 PST From: "John Heery" Subject: (orb) Orb Audio... hello alll I've lost the mail containing the 'New' oaa detail/address...the new one is the web based one not, scotts now sadly defunct ftp site If anyone can help me i would be eternally gratefull Regards John ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 23 Jan 1999 12:06:59 -0800 From: Bobby Tribble Subject: Re: (orb) Is there a name for us? >> What does that make orb fans?
