I can't find any mention anywhere but there. I'm >desperately seeking any info at all. Herb Garden was (is?) a UK magazine that featured a lot of articles on music, although not exclusively a music magazine -- I recall it had a lot of "humorous" articles. Occasionally they included a free cassette with issues to promote an album that was coming out. Sorry, I don't know what's on the Orb tape, but you can guess which release it was promoting. I did have a Bentley Rhythm Ace cassette that came with one issue, and it had 5 or 6 songs, and I *think* they were unreleased, to give you an indication of the length and content of the tapes. Does anyone in the UK know if Herb Garden is still publishing? It was kind of funny... This tax is assuming that the only people who buy recording media use it on copyrighted material. Cdr is a great medium for unsigned artists to distribute their own orginal work into the market place. Now the "unsigned" artists have to pay Bryan Adams and Celine Dion a stippon to express their own creativity? Completely absurd, if you ask me. My top recommendation would also be Amoeba - gigantic place with an excellent selection! (I just scored the map pack version of Orbus Terrarum there today for $13!) There's one where Haight St meets Golden Gate park, as well as the original in Berkeley on Telegraph Ave - both are superb Also on Haight (at Masonic, I think) is Reckless Records - not nearly as good but there is the occassional score to be found. If you're looking for Vinyl, make sure to check Housewares on Haight (@ Central) - don't know about Orb content, but they're quite knowledgable and cool, and also usually have the skinny on local parties. There's Groove (something or other - Grooves, Groove Patrol, I can't remember) in the lower Haight (@ Pierce, next to a delicious Ethiopian place) which is usually well-stoked with local items, but also has some unusual vinyl and box cd sets. If you head to Berkeley, make sure to check out Mod Lang (next door to the comic book shop) on University & Shattuck (?) - they always have good stuff (orb-wise) but you may have to pay a pretty penny for it... Hope that helps! Amoeba Music is the best, for CDs anyway - the new SF store on Haight St is even bigger than the old Berkeley store on Telegraph! There are a lot of other music stores on/near Haight St that you might as well check if you're in the area, but check Amoeba first. Mod Lang on University Ave in Berkeley has the best selection of new import CDs that I've been able to find, and they also sell some Vinyl (my friend saw the map-pack vinyl Orbus Terrarum there new, but I doubt they still have it.)
