Just wanted to let you guys in on what i've started thinking of for ULTRAWorld dot org I have spent the last couple of weeks teaching myself how to do interactive web panels. (i.e. javascript roll-overs as part of one larger picture) I've gone thru a few ideas but none seemed to embody the nature of this project as well as an interface that i found at www.andygraphics.com . The reason i reverted back to his graphics, was because i found my self almost imatating his design, and Mine did NOT come out as well as his. So for a link back, we can use his interface... See an example of how it works at www.ultraworld.org/interface/index.html When you go there try mousing over the buttons and seeing the numbers pop up in the center. IF ANY OF you don't see what i'm talking about (with a 3.0+ browser) please let me know, as i will have to work another option of navigation into my design for those that can't (or won't) upgrade their browsers. But I recomend it, as I come from the nu skool of design, and to get the sharper image, 4.0+ technologies are introduced and utilized in my design schemes.... Anyway, this is what i think would work out nicely, (please at this time read this email, while you have this url up on your browser, so you can see what i'm talking about.) Button #2 ---> this would be the home button. Button#7 ---> This would be the bio section. So that whereever you are on the site, you can get to the MAIN feature... Our bios Buttons# 1,3,6,8 would be the other features. such as OrbLinks, Lazlo's Dicog. Machine (with his permission of course, but it could just always be one of the links, so that we don't 'mimic' www.theorb.com too much...), etc. Now here's the Kicker :-) Buttons # 4 & 5 ---> I want to program as Forward and Back Buttons. in a sence. as I want you to be able to navigate the bios in a forward or backwards manner (kinda like a web ring) so that there is no begining and no ending to the bios. Hence a "SPHERICAL COMMUNITY" :-) that way Smiley is equal to a digest reader, etc. etc. (we are all one in the ORB :-) What do you guys think? Now Please throw some ideas out for me... How should we fill up the other features? Maybe an archive of MP3s (don't shoot...) or something? A voting booth for fave albums? or a place for people to post their want/trade lists (but that could just be a part of their bio) Now as far as the bio goes (Rachel, The link you posted didn't work for me, Would you mind terribly private sending me the address to qzazen@csi.com ?) I figured that we could come up with 20 'out there' questions that would be indicative of their personality, that Everyone would answer, Like your most memorible orb expirience, fave sample, first album, how you got into the orb, bannana?, etc. etc. etc. And then we give room to allow the person to write the mundane things they want to share... Like where in the world they live, what they do for a living, links to their homepage... (even if it's not orb related) , etc. lemme know what you think.... The numbers are just there so i could explain it... I haven't customized it yet with Icons to signify what is what yet... Oh, and i didn't put the numbers in myself, this is how it came, but i will keep in mind that as much as possible, i will program the site in circles .... thanks eric ----- Original Message ----- From: Mike Bailey To: *eric irving marden* Cc: Sent: Friday, June 25, 1999 11:09 AM Subject: Re: (orb) Ultraworld.org Update. > >What do you guys think? > > It looks great! > > A couple of suggestions: if you're going for a spherical look, have the > numbers go all the way around, instead of right-to-left, top-to-bottom. > > And you really need something to pop up saying where the link goes.
