The best results I've had so far are with the cheap FUJI CD-Rs, as sold in Software etc. As for the age of the players, it doesn't seem to matter a whole lot, in fact SONY seems to have the hardest time recognizing CD-Rs period. Although I'd hate to perpetuate this Off Topic Thread, i feel i need to jump in also. Maxell's I've known to be the worse... Some Burners can't even burn to them... And the Thing that Wierd about them, is that they change from package to package.. Once at work we had to do a bulk Copy of CD's to Distribute Training information. And we had been shipped a supply of 10 - 10pk of Maxell CD-R's, and Each box had a different Kind of Coating.. Silver/Blue, Green/Gold, Gold/Gold, Silver/Green. The CD-R'skept spitting them out (almost Literally) the were complete crap. But I use to have alot of luck with these Bulk CD's I used to get from MEI/MicroCenter. They Were Bulk Memorex CD's for about $1.17pc. But after about my third bulk order, they switched the Brand to Mitsumi.. And I've been having to throw out every other disc. Also I had an Old Panasonc that played anything..(i miss the poor sucker, the best portable I've had, Took a bad Spill, No one makes portables like that Anymore). And my roommate HAd a new Sony Carosel that had a hard time playing most CD-R's (Memorex worked the best). The thing that was wierd though. Is that he took a Disc that didn't work in his to Best Buy where they had the same model.. And it worked... I just think the problem is that there is a lot of sub-quality production going on in both CD-R's and Stero Compnents (Sony's consumer line tends to be the worst, I've never seen a sony portable last longer than a year).
