Newsgroups - alt.binaries.mp3.* You couldn't possibly keep up with the amount of music posted there daily, although it may not always be what you are looking for. 2. CuteFTP - This ftp program (which rules and no serious download junkie should be without) has an 'MP3 File Finder'. stick in the name of an artist or song and it queries several search engines and comes back with (depending on the song) a list of ftp sites. You can do a 'smart get' where it will try every site until a download is successful. 3. Web search engines - http://mp3.box.sk/. Click on 'mp3 search engines' on the left for a huge list of them. Problem with most of the ftp sites is that many have you go to their porn pages to find hidden login names and passwords need to gain unlimited access. But once you're in, there is so much music to get. Of course, I don't condone downloading anything that is readily available...support your fav artist now, ya hear? =) *MoonDogg* PS. I have been meaning to put the OAA up on FTP on my personal workstation, and with all the talk lately of the cds for sale on eBay, decided it was time to actually do it....So this weekend, I plan on it. The files are all sitting there, and 2 ftp servers installed. I am just trying to learn how to use them and figure out which one I like best. When it's ready, I'll let everybody know. Hey all. Try putting some Blue Tack (stuff you hang poster on the wall with) under each corner of each speaker. (About the size of a dime) What are they resting on? Stands? Shelves? Are they ported? Do they have enough space behind them to let the air/pressure out? That should be a start. BS - -- Brad A. And speaking of U.F. Orb, thanks to John Moxness (an orb listie) I am now the proud owner of the big life release of this album ... yes, it contains the bonus disk. What a freaking masterpiece that 40min Blue Room is! I mean some of the sub rhythms (especially the one around the 31 min mark) fucking makes that song... not to mention the vocal samples that later showed up on Orbvs and the Marliyn Monroe one from Anthology II.... Anyway, any orbies worth their grain of salt must find a copy of this album.... It's so AWESOME. sorry had to get that out of my system. noone but you guys can imagine my joy! \e\ BTW - the assain mix is phat ass as well... # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Sep 1999 14:05:14 -0500 (CDT) From: matthew schieffer Subject: (orb) small time Can someone please recommend just one or two or ten good cd's/artists other thatn the orb that I would enjoy. I have heard about 600 different people mention their favorites but what is a good entry level standard to sorta ween me of of the orb? People have suggested Eno's Music for airports or any eno, but I've yet to hear any eno. I am a huge heavy metal fan, but when I discovered orb I really geeked out. I used to listen to that band who's name starts with a k and ends with an f as a child, but i dunno, just looking for suggestions as you all seem to be bloated with em'. I guess I'm looking for something between orb and lords of acid (hows that gap?). Also how hard is it to get orb video's? in the u.s rather. And how uncommon is lets say aubrey's remix or double set of u.f.off in the deep midwest just for curiosity's sake. I would love to trade cd-rs of any rare orb as I own and have access to many rare phish (orb related? no i guess) gd, pink floyd (yes) etc. anything you can think of. I just aquired a copy of pink floyd doing dark side of the moon in like 74' ( one of the first times live) and the encore is obscurred by clouds wich sounds surprisingly like it should be orbscurred by clouds. anyway thanx for tolerating my inconcise amatuer orbnoxious ass. Last fall, I compiled input from the Orb and Orbital lists about other bands that listmembers listen to. I'll be asking for input again in about a month, compile it and compare it to last year's data. But there are lots of bands listed, and they are ranked according to votes received.
