The following suggestions are based on my own experiences, from many years ago. 1) Get a fake ID. Try to get a real-looking one, or one supposedly from another state, etc. Probably best not to get a Cali card, people will be familiar with how it looks. 2) If you have a lot of facial hair growth for your age, let it grow, grow, grow. The time-honored approach. If you don't have too much, get rid of it completely. 3) Shave your head. It worked for me at 17. 4) Perhaps going with group of people, perhaps older people, might help. 5)The clothes you wear might have an effect, too. But be careful not to appear to be trying too hard to look older. Many 21 year-olds don't look very old, you don't have to either. Good luck. All kinds of bars and clubs use the tried and true filter or reverse filter methods! They could ask you if you're going to drink, if you say yes, they card you and if you're 21 they give you a stamp or a wristband or something. No, actually, Reagan played a part in getting the entire USA to a legal drinking age of 21. Before he became president, different states had different legal drinking ages. Reagan threatened to withhold federal highway funds from states that did not raise their drinking age to 21. Faced with the prospect of losing a boatload of money, all the states complied. And by the time I turned 21, he was long gone. It was Congress's. Why? Because they passed the law that for federal money, everything had to be equal for all states, and since the federal liquor board does the licensing, he had to comply. I am not defending Reagan here. I'm not getting into political figure-bashing, but I don't think the blame is entirely his. Anyway, Walter Williams, a very Libertarian Black commentator, rightly noted, too, that the effects of the president aren't seen until about 15 years after his presidency. So if you want to argue that, Reagan was fuckin' great, and it's Carter, Bush, and Clinton who fuckin' suck. :) Brian ===>Sorry but who gives a rats ass. I want to smoke dope on my front porch but I cant. So in the mean time I smoke it on my back porch. Get it? Rules were made to be broken. If you want to do something bad enough there is a way. It's that > simple. Not to mention that Canada's LGA (legal drinking age) is 19....a very good thing for me, considering the last two ORB (well, actually it was only Alex DJing) gigs were advertised as "licensed" events (i.e. licensed to sell alcohol and thus only ages 19+ admitted.) But I don't think its only the promoter or band that decides to make an event "licensed"....I beleive the establishment has a large say since they are they ones who will profit by it (i.e. they must weigh the losses from the drop in ticket sales against the profit they will make from selling alcohol for a 19+ event.) james # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 19 Oct 1999 10:07:53 PDT From: "jj fish" Subject: (orb) Reagan, Libertarians, Orb, Voting What really pisses me off is all the morons who don't even use their right to vote. (Right in the beginning, where there's the voice saying "There's no such thing..." all the way through to "Wake Up") i searched for other secrets (all through Pomme Fritz) but technology has progressed quite a bit since then, and i was wondering if anyone else had stumbled across any similar discoveries?
