My first impressions are that LX and the crew are having alot more fun with their music than in some previous albums, and are taking themselves less seriously without sacrificing talent. Many of my friends really disliked once more, and I cannot say that I am with them; as I am an Aki fan. It seems also that the Dub/chill out vibe that was somewhat disturbingly absent from orblivion is without a doubt back in force. As fdor overall feel of the album so far, whereas UFORB was a "listen to while laying out in the sun" album, cydonia sounds much like a "trip-toy-latenight-chill-out-room" kinda gig (if that makes any sense at all). It is much more beat-driven and solid than previous efforts, but it stands on its own and might actually suck quite a few new people into the huge evergrowing fanbase. Every time I order it I get a cancellation >notification. Did you order by mail ? I did and received it quickly via Return to the source. And it's available easily in French stores now, so you should find it also where you live. Or you can order it at www.yalplay.com, I suppose. I didnt check it, but it seems to be the extended mix of the track included in Good Fridge which is 4.33 I saw today the 2X12" of Infiniti : Never Tempt me with 2 remixes by Fehlmann. There's a flowing edit and a flowing extended. I suppose that's the extended which is included in One to three. Overflow. BT is Brian Transeau; I usually see him dropped into the "Progressive House" bucket. That seems to translate into fairly overt 4/4 beats with lots of atmosphere ("flying-over-canyons techno" :-) and occasional drifts into rock/pop/hip-hop land. Hangs/works with Sasha, seems to be kind of a surfer type in real life. He's got a site up at www.btmusic.com, it's pretty rough around the edges but there are lots of album clips so you can get a feel for things. ESCM is the album that sold me. - -- Lazlo Nibble - lazlo@studio-nibble.com - http://www.studio-nibble.com - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 24/7 music from the Nibble vaults! - http://www.studio-nibble.com/audio -- # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 06 Jan 2000 22:00:37 -0700 (MST) From: reverend dj bluE Subject: (orb) (OT) New b.e.l.t. album available Hi, b.e.l.t. is my improvised electronic band, and our newest performance is available at mp3.com, feel free to check it out, and let me know what you think... this performance leans more towards the "noise" end of the spectrum. www.mp3.com/belt www.mp3.com/belt thanks, -ben aka reverend dj bluE # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 7 Jan 2000 10:06:11 +0000 (GMT) From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Smiley?= Subject: (orb) CYDONIA VERSION _2_ cydonia is now doing the rounds in a 'version 2' stylee. the only difference is that 'Freely Wheely' has been replaced by 'Jam On Yer Honey'. i'm VERY pleased about this, 'cos i said way back in february last year that 'Jam On Yer Honey' was too good to be a b-side, so i hope this is the way it stays. plus, it means that 'Freely Wheely' and 'Bicycles and Tricycles' can go together as b-sides - they were originally intended to be next to each other if they were both on the album anyway... i'll be making a sample of 'JOYH' next week - and posting it to laz's site (same as b4 laz, right?). ttfn. ===== Smiley New spares list: http://come.to/SmileyWeb ____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
