I listen to all types of music and artists; one of my favorites being a group of bad ass motherfuckers that call themselves the Orb. man, lists are great, i'm subbed to five; most of the local lists go straight to the trash unless theres a review or something, or someone i know posts, so ANYWAY!!! a few months ago i was sorting through all the local "rave" list drama, and i got to thinking: if there's an orb list out there, then why am i not on it? so here i am. i would tell you my favorite orb tracks if that were possible, but some that come to mind are all the YMO remixes, the killing joke remix DEFINITELY up there in the top five, the whole pomme fritz album, the whole Orbus Terrarum album, the peel session version of Montagne D'Or, ....i could go on and on but pointless. the Orb has had major influence on me musically; practically changed the way i listen to music. other influences include LUKE VIBERT, Jammin Unit [although much of his latest work seems to be headed more towards a "pop music -like" sound], Richard Bartz and basically the whole kanzleramt camp, the Surgeon, Squarepusher, Luke Vibert, Mu-Ziq, Luke Vibert.... i been to three orb shows and smoked one sweet with mr. LX himself at a Meat Beat show. yeah yeah, i know cheesy, but goddamn he's a rock'n'roll star to me man! =P jk. I'm not looking to trade this or make money off of it, just to hear it. And even if the "preferred version" were *perfect*, I'd still be curious to hear the works in progress. > OK, it's only an opinion, but another > couple of months isn't too much to > ask, is it? As a matter of fact, yes it is. And on what do you base this definitive "couple of months" release date estimate? > just let LX finish his work before looking > for something that might disappoint. I have no concerns about the CD-Rs being disappointing. Again, if anyone has these and would be willing to dupe them for me, please contact me privately off-list. I'll do what I can to make it worth your while. Thanks in advance. If LX really does not want anyone to hear a work on progress like that, maybe we should not, but then again, I would do just about anything to get a copy. If anyone can hook me up, let me know I will gladly offer equal and just compensation. I would say maybe we should not have it, but maybe a junkie should not have a fix either. I need it like a junkie needs a fix. If LX and crew put their voice out saying hey we don't want this circulating, I will abide, but as was mentioned it some folks here already have the fucker. Somebody fix me up, I am sitting here with the tournaquet on ready and waiting to bang some good dope into my eardrums... Personally I have been waiting for this since the day orblivion came out. But....we don't know that for sure, yet. If and when the next official album is released, if it is significantly different, then the CD-R qualifies for submittal to the OAA. If it can be determined by those in the know that this is definitely going to be the case...then make it available now. After all, it's only the people on this list, for the most part, that even know about the OAA, as far as I know. We are the hardcore of the hardcore Orb fans. It's not like we are putting it up on Napster for the whole world to see. I don't advertise my ftp anywhere, or list it with any search engines. I know some people have made it's existence known in the news group, which is cool, but beyond that, it's a pretty private resource. I say kick down. *MoonDogg* - -----Original Message----- The squeaky wheel gets the grease so here it goes: Would the individual(s) who apparently have the copies of Cydonia please share the wealth and at least put it on the OAA....or contact me off list for a copy. Paying for it would suck, but I would rather pay than do without. Please someone put this out there. I myself would prefer a CD burned from CD not from MP 3, but what are you going to do. I will pay cost and shipping to anyone who will do that for me. Sorry I am an analogue  snob and I think CDs sound shitty and compressed enough as it is and will only resort to MP3 as a result of absolute desperation as in this case, for that matter I only resort to CDs in a matter of absolute desperation.  Please don't tell anyone I said I am trying to purchase a CD, it will tarnish my reputation.

As long as it's not for profit, do the current CDR owners object to some sort of distribution after the official release? I realize that most owners might want remain anonymous for obvious reasons, so I'm not expecting a major response. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Jun 2000 23:00:26 GMT From: "Dirty Hooka" Subject: Re: (orb) Cydonia CD-Rs On the analogue/digital note, does anyone know if the Ultraworld Excursions/Aubrey mixes were released on vinyl?
