On another note, my wife and I are having another baby, (#3). And though we aren't sure, we think its a boy. My last name happens to be Paterson so we are thinking of naming him Alex Paterson, what do you all think? Im not sure, I met someone named Jesus once and he was disappointing. Also, where is Alex from originally? He is the only other "Paterson" who spells the name with only one "T" that I have met. I have Scottish German and Irish blood and I think the name is Scottish but it mite be the Irish. Im not saying that im his long lost son, im just curious about this odd coweenkidink. Also im in the states so I dont know how common "Paterson" is elsewhere in the world. Dance ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! Sorry about that Wu Tang Post... found out that it was just my broswer somehow automatically opened some stupid web radio thing that was broadcasting WU Tang, as I was listening to 'Turn it down'. Now that I've had a few listens... It's good... But not my favorite orb album (although Most orb albums have been know to grow on me)... So I'm looking forward to see what changes are going to be made in the Non-Andy Version.. My opinions (keep in mind, they are clearly opinions), Once More, Promis and Ghost Dancing are my least favorite, and seem the weakest on the album. I really hope these are the ones that seriously get reworked on the new version. Mile Long Lump of Lard and Yungle probably my favorites, but that's just me.. I like the noisy agressiveness of those songs, and the breaks in Yungle are fun.. Some side notes.. Some of the songs sound like B-versions of Orblivion songs, with same Bass Riffs, and other sounds, just in different speeds and effects. Not that that makes me think less of it, it's just an observation, and was hoping maybe a little more. Terminus... Is classic.. Thats all I can say about that... But all in all.. Good.. and I will very excitedly purchase the Real thing when it's about. Heh... When my wife and I were working at the same place, I thought it would be amusing to remotely log into her box and start playing the 40 minute mix of blue room. Turns out whe was listening to No Doubt at the time so at the end of the day she asked me, "Did Orb do a bunch of No Doubt remixes?" Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. I agree that Once More, Promis, and Ghost Dancing are the weaker tracks. I really like Turn it Down and Ralf. I'll get to hear Terminus tonight... The production work on it reminded me a lot of the first Peel Sessions. An interesing mix between ambient sounds and meaty bass. Unfortunately, I have to classify this album as bad coding music -- I keep paying attention to the music and not the code! > But all in all.. Good.. and I will very excitedly purchase the Real thing > when it's about. Buy two and educate someone about the Orb... =) - -Steve - -- ______________________________________________________________________________ Steve Shah (sshah@planetoid.org) | SysAdmin/Coder/Gabbernaut/DJ/Writer/Minister http://www.planetoid.org | We're not dropping out, we're infiltrating. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dance while you can. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Jul 2000 13:21:08 -0400 From: "Long, Joshua L." A very amusing story indeed and full credit to Sean, but without wanting to sound like a pseud this whole episode has made me wonder if a mix can sound as convincing when it is accidental as when it is not, what does that say about orb stuff in general? The more I think about this the deeper I get - someone stop me! Cydonia still growing on me, 'Terminus' is indeed great and has the same sort of depth and 'vast-ness' (for want of a better word) that 'Plateau' has. Can't wait for the official release. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Jul 2000 14:26:12 -0400 From: Dance S Paterson Subject: Re: (orb) Date: Mon, 17 Jul 2000 18:46:11 +0100 When I got Live 93' my dog would freak out when the dog samp started in fluffy i think. It was the funniest thing to see my dog get Orbed. Also, on the "John Peel Sessions" there is a part right after No Fun that sounds exactly like one of my phone ringers so when I would be BLASTING the CD I would get Orbed by that sound and go running for the phone. Any other people with some Orbed experiences? Dance ps, I have some funky remixes on my site, some Orb.
