Extra! Alex in Jax after hours set -n- such... Hello Orbearnauts, I have returned to the list finally. I am back from Jacksonville's after hours club "Evolution"; and have much to discuss. I was torn Saturday evening about if I should persue Lx's DJ set because my summer has been filled with trial after trial. The longest hottest bitch of a summer in my young 25 years of exsistence on memory!! I left my home at approx. 5:00p.m. I brought with me my Advantax Kodak camera, a new black sharpie marker and 4 of my rarest Orb records. I headed on the treacherous interstate road. I was alone and found that by counting the mangeled Firestone tires, time would pass by easier. 2 hours later I stopped by Eric's home in Orlando. Check out his web site and ask him to put yourself in the Spherical Community's Bio Page; it is at: www.ultraworld.org/ Eric had a stack of homework in his hands as he smiled to let me in. I left my car running as I could not stay long. I flipped him a VHS tape I had made piled and compiled with FSO! L Lifeforms, Orb live at Pinkpop '94 & '97, Patterns and Textures, Underworld on Dutch T.V., U.K. Orb live boot circa '92; Artificial Intelligence Warpvision video, Aphex Twin Video Item / Windowlicker, and Pomme Fritz as well as Towers of Dub Promos. These videos are all highly recomended. Eric snatched the tape and we embraced and I was off again zipping along counting hundreds of slashed tires all over Fl. The sunset was truley acid!! I stopped in St. Augustine to refill petrol, check the surf, hang with my Flagler surf bros and get high. It was now like 8:00 p.m. and I still had an hour to go!! So, on I went into the U.S.'s largest city Jacksonville. My navigating skills are good so I found the club after a few directions and meeting local lifestyle. Mad Professor's Towers of Dub version down low I snugged my parked bubble behind a church and caught 2 hours of some shut eye well desreved. The club did not even open until 2:00a.m. Ten bucks at the door when I would! have graceously given it right to Lx. Like seven dollars in quarters floating in my wagon so I played video games at the dry bar with a cutie in hot pink named "Megan" while the D.J.'s warmed up the turntables for Alex. The owner of "Evolution" is a cat named Greg. "Alex might arrive around 4:00a.m."; he said. I knew Lx had a thing for not showing up and this was not funny as I had a long drive ahead of me and had to be waiting tables at home in like 5 1/2 hours!! I did not want to leave. Alex arrives and I walk to the D.J. booth. Greg tells me Lx wants some good soft drugs and can I get some before meeting him!! Go figure. I cannot be dropping a dose in Jax this morning so I make head way. I walked up to the recognizable bloke and could not stop grinning. Alex Paterson is my favorite turn-table-artist... and I told him so. He is a patient dude. The drive there and home was all put aside. I asked Greg to take our picture. I asked Alex to sign my "Little Fluffy Clo! uds" DJpromo 2 X LP, "Eternity Project" LP, Orb Factor 6 label "The Kiss E.P"; and Erasure "Ship of Fools" promo 12". I told Lx how he and Perry Bamonte are my favorite Roadies. He listened. I explained how I enjoy feeling the music as well as collecting it. I asked why Andy Hughes was out of the Orb... "He done too much booger sugar. I can't keep up with his Coke habits", he stated. I asked if he knew that the North Pole had melted. He said "Yeah, but there is life on one of the moon's out there..." and he pointed out and up! I asked what it was like to remix so many artists and he dissmissed my question as an honour. I told him I'd like to see another world record broke in the recording industry, he shrugged. I asked him if he knew Smiley; Mr. Miles Sturt... again he shrugged. I asked who did the art work for Badorb; "Nick Burton done that one, yeah!" I asked about more videos in the future and he said that if the right project came along he would. I asked if he h! ad been travelling alot and he said a bit but that it was all work and he did not have enough money for leisure travel. I asked if he was comming over to tour for Cydonia. He said "No way! No tour for this one". I think he said he wouldn't make it back to the U.S. for almost five years or so... I asked how excited he was to have Badorb up and running: "When it all gets up and running(the web site, the label and the new artists) 100% of my time will be working with other artist's and producing. And then there will be a Badorb I, Badorb II, Badorb III and Badorb IV, and so on." I asked Alex if he had ever met Robbie Shakespere and Sly Dunbar; "No, but I met Bob Marley one time and he gave me this..." Right then I almost fell over when he pulled out of his Admiral Futbol jersey T a rasta's necklace. It was a bone of some sort, coloured in Red, Yellow, and Green!!! Shocking. I asked him if he would be on the "Global Underground" volumes and Alex told me Badorb was a full p! riority now. I asked if Darren Emerson would join Lx as the Orb? Alex said, "No". I told Alex I wish he would come back to south Florida sooner. He winked. I couldn't think of any thing else to tell my hero so I made a fist and gave him peace knuckles and left the DJ booth with my camera and records. Thanks for reading this extra long post.
