Hmm... Well, I already knew that LX, Thrash, Youth, Drummond, and Cauty were involved in this, as well as Steve Hillage and his wife Miquette Giraudy (AFAIK) who are System 7 (aka 777). And I didn't think that Hillage could be a 'fat Belgian' because he's English. His wife, possibly, but I don't know her extraction. For those who don't know, Hillage was with the band Gong once upon a time. If you haven't heard Gong you should look for 'Radio Gnome Invisible part II, Angel's Egg' by Gong. It's not altogether hard to find, should be at a local record shop. Some of the tracks on Cydonia are certainly pretty heavy and fast. I would have thrown them into the 'illbient' category, but they're not really evil or tooth-grinding, just fast with lots of beats. But there are plenty of categories already, and I'm sure those tunes fit into one. I'm against all pigeonholing of artists into categories. I've been hunting and this is the first place that I've seen it in any form except for bootlegs sold on eBay. Considering that Cauty and Drummond had most of KLF's catalog destroyed on their 'exit' from the music industry, I'd be willing to bet that anyone who has a copy almost certainly has a bootleg if they bought it after 1995 or 1996 so. I can't find a real copy anywhere. BTW, the MP3 seems to be recorded at a fairly low volume, but there's no distortion. Just crank up the output gain and it sounds fine. Listening to this I'm struck by the sample of the kids talking about the positions of the planets and "lunar modules" at about 15:00m and then following that the male voice saying something about "space cadets finished their nap and have one hour till landing at Lunar Central". This sample (or others from the same place) was used by the Orb as well, I think in AHEGPBTRFTCOTU, at least on Evil39 if not others. Anyone know where it's from? I think this is some indication that perhaps LX did have at least a little bit to do with Cauty's "Space" album, even though I read comments to the contrary which said that Cauty removed all of LX's work from this album. Aha! Another sample -- "Number 23" repeated at about 28:00m and again at 30:00m. I've heard it in Orb music on Evil93 somewhere. I think maybe in "Towers of Dub" with the racecar sounds? Not sure. The signifigance is obvious to KLF fans, Discordians, and other illuminated folk. (2 + 3 = 5) BTW, after listening to KLF's "Chill Out" I swear that LX couldn't have had anything to do with it. It just doesn't sound like his style at all, especially at that point in time, except perhaps in one or two spots that could well be my ears or coincidence. Maybe he listened in and made comments, but it doesn't seem to have his touch. It's still an excellent album in its own right, and a great example of KLF's versatility. Very cool trip. Alex P. was good, but we was DJ'ing, not composing - he mixed alot of his songs, from various albums, it was good but Juno Reactor blew him out of the water! Check out Juno Reactor! Juno consists of 4 african tribesman (real ones) and a german guy with a mixing board and an electric guitar. They are considered psy-trance. The tribesmen had makeup on and looked like they came out of the jungle. All the tribesman had drums and various objects to make noise with. The german guy would take stuff the tribesman would beat or yell into the microphone and loop it, distort it, or make it echo - it was incredible. Also, one drum kit one of the africans was playing was an electronic drum sythesizer, and the sound would change from a drum sound to a guitar or a piano. In a couple of songs the german guy ripped into guitar riffs. It was f&*cking incredible! I tried downloading some stuff off of Napster - got a piece of it before it crashed. Check out this snippet - they played this song while I was there - its called Pistolero. I also met a couple people into the psy-trance scene and they mentioned infected mushroom was one of the best groups. Its along the same lines as astral projection. It's always nice when Fortran 5 fans come out of the woodwork... Fortran 5 are now known as Komputer. They released a Kraftwerk-esque debut album called "The World of Tomorrow". Even though their songs sound like they were lifted directly out of Kraftwerk records, there were some really good remixes on singles. I personally liked "Valentina" the best, I think it's still in print on Mute in the US. But I think the album has been deleted (it didn't do that well in the UK or the US.) But I recently received a sampler with 16 Mute artists and Komputer is on it, so they're still on the label. Before they became Fortran 5, they were the Mute project, I start Counting. If you haven't gotten anything from ISC, definitely pick up "Catalogue" or "Fused", definitely good stuff. "Catalogue" came out in 1991 and feaured several updated versions of ISC classics by Fortran 5, Daniel Miller and Pascal Gabriel, all good stuff. In addition, they put out this random CD called "Rhythmicon" by John Came. Everyone thought it was Vince Clarke (or a weird side-Erasure project.)
