Absolutely. I don't think they are crap at all. Many of the videos that were made by electronic artists in the early 90's weren't technically brilliant or lavishly over indulgent. A bit of home made super 8 or some cheap stock footage, maybe some cgi thrown in and Bob's yer Uncle's life partner. Worked fine for me then and still does. Queen " Bohemian rhapsody" was one of the first ever made (as an industry ploy, but the Beatles did videos for "Strawberry fields forever" for example). I still think these Orb videos are rather cheesy ("Perpetual dawn" being the worst IMHO), but maybe The Orb doesn't need to have videos, their tracks already create images in your mind. Austin opened up with King Koffee [sp?] from the butthole surfers doing his little electronic/jackofficers thing, and then the Orb. Gibby Haynes was jamming! spent the night in San Marcos with an old friend of mine and the drove to dallas the next day, where the the orb OPENED UP for the chemical brothers... but my perspective says the chemical brothers had the closing duties. :) LX opened up with pounding techno dj set and then went into some jungle, and then the orb played. it was a nice performance, they were set up in sort of a triangle or pyramid, and the light show was incredible. the venue was the Bomb Factory and it was packed! they has this incredible 5 or 6 speaker setup, where certain sounds/equipment would come through specific speakers creating an "orb" effect for the peeps in the middle area. i remember Pink Floyd also did this for the division bell at Rice University. ok gotta go! now playing [on the cpu next to me]: mistress barbara @ community, chicago http://www.supersphere.com/play/web2.supersphere.com/Content/TV/mistressbarbara092500.rm p.s.
