I can't stay quite on this one. For my money, the best remixers ever are Trevor Horn and his Building Theams circa 1982-1985 (Frankie, Art of Noise, Propaganda, Grace Jones, Yes, etc.). Dr. Dre's remixes of old Death Row material (his solo stuff, Snoop Dogg, etc.) were similarly incredible. Both of them went beyond well "remix" to basically record newer, longer versions of the songs, which seems today to be a sadly lost art... not even Trevor or Dre make the effort with their more recent output... On the more recent tip, I've found Depth Charge, Luke Vibert (inc. Plug, Wagon Christ), Plaid, Weatherall to do consistently interesting remix work, along with some of the folks like Cornelius, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Fila Brazillia who have whole remix compilations out... I'm sure there are some I'm forgetting, though...
