Caught 12 hours of reggae and dub at the Long Beach Arena. Bunny Wailer, Culture, Toots Hibbert and Judy Mowatt putting in the best sets. Skool band backed most of the acts, and they are tight. They did a great ambient dub set backing Michael Rose & Black Uhuru a few years back. Found 3 venders selling vinyl and picked up the "Select Cuts From Blood & Fire" album. I was stoked. I've had the vinyl on order for three months and nobody could get it for me. So another Orb mix found! LX should have been there as herb was legal at the Arena for the two day show. Not that I would advise it, but people would stop and light up in front of two or three officers. The officers would just move on. What a difference in 20 years. I was downtown in McArthur Park for the first of these shows back in '81. There were mounted police on horses looking for smokers of herb. Onward to the Orb tour!!!!!!!!! I can't imagine they'd want to suppress sales so soon, especially after such a high chart position ;-) ....but again my local shop I always go to still didn't have either the cd or 12" so I had to bite the bullet and darken the doors of HMV. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Feb 2001 16:21:07 +0100 From: "marco van der Bijl" Subject: (orb) looking for a videotape Hi All, I have a question and I'm sure this is the right place to ask it. I have a hobby, which is juggling. Not the 'normal' ball or club juggling, but I manipulate chrystal balls. This form of juggling is called Contact Juggling (If you want to know more about that go check out www.contactjuggling.org) Now I have heard that a video-clip of 'the Orb' contains some of this form of juggling, in which somebody is palmspinning (twirling or rotating a stack of three of four balls in the palm of the hand, like Chinese exersise balls). I'm looking for that videoclip, so perhaps somebody here can give me the following info; ~from which song is this clip? ~on what tape is it? ~where can I buy this tape? ~who is the performer of the juggling? Ofcourse it is possible that I'm mistaken and that this videotape does not exist, in that case I appologise for disturbing this mailing list.
