I am pretty new to this list so it's hard for me to say alot on this subject; however, I think the orginal post about the problem was more talking about the lack of answering questions and the attitude that stupid questions are stupid and don't need any attention. I know my first post to this list was a pretty easy question for any long time orb collector and I didn't get ONE respounce back. It kinda made me feel like new comers with stupid questions are not wanted, which is what I think woadspiral was kinda getting at. I think that most tracks are very good, but they do suit each other. I think that it's very bad that Cydonia wasn't released in 1999 as v2.0. The actual version can be split in 2 parts: first 4 tracks and Terminus with Andy's touch - very nice, sounds like Orblivion. 2nd part: new tracks from new version of Mile Long Lump of Lard till Thursday's Keeper (of course I've got 13 tracks version :-( ). And for me it sounds like I'm listening to 2 other albums on one CD. New tracks has one thing very bad: doesn't sound like Orb!!! They sound like any trip-hop band. I'd guess this is a limited release [whether the packaging says so or not] and they'll go back to selling the normal 1 record when stocks run out. I only shop at these online for records/cd's etc and really Eil is second hand more so than new stuff [but strangely, they do sell the odd bit of new stuff ]. I can't really think of any other online UK based shops - over to anyone else? If you go to shopsmart.co.uk and then type in Cydonia - it comes up with the CD. If you then do "compare prices" it lists all the online shops that ship it. Without spending ages on the net doing this, I don't know of the 10 or so shops listed, which stock the vinyl - I'll leave that to someone else. A word of caution. I've used CDwow before - I'm not impressed. Cracked cases, odd shipping [UK based, but ship from Hong Kong] arrived at different times despite being all in stock at the same time, cd's and cases **look** like cheap copies but don't seem to be. To their credit, they are the cheapest and they don't charge shipping BUT when they posted my 7 [from an order of 12] replacement cases, 3 of THEM were cracked AND I had to pay excess postage on ALL 3 PACKAGES. I've written them off personally. I'd say I'd help out and take me arse to a shop and ship it over, but after last nights negative bitchings I'm not so sure ;-) # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 3 Mar 2000 08:56:49 -0500 From: "Sean Strout" Subject: (orb) us tour dates This was the full list of US dates: April 2001 - Orb - Cydonia Tour 12 Boynton, FL(?) - Orbit 13 Tampa, FL - Masquerade 14 Atlanta, GA - Masquerade 16 Washington, DC - 9:30 Club 17 New York, NY - Irving Club 19 Boston, MA - Avalon 20 Montreal, QB - Soma 21 Detroit, MI - St Andrews Hall 22 Toronto, ON - The Guvernment 23 Chicago, IL - Metro 25 Denver, CO - Ogden Theatre 27 San Francisco, CA - Maritime 28 Los Angeles, CA - Coachella Festival # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 02 Mar 2001 10:18:03 -0500 (EST) From: james.drysdale@utoronto.ca Subject: Re: (orb) us tour dates Correction: It should read "_North_American_ tour dates" (Ontario's not a state, and Toronto isn't a US city!) james > This was the full list of US dates: > > April 2001 - Orb - Cydonia Tour > 12 Boynton, FL(?) - Orbit > 13 Tampa, FL - Masquerade > 14 Atlanta, GA - Masquerade > 16 Washington, DC - 9:30 Club > 17 New York, NY - Irving Club > 19 Boston, MA - Avalon > 20 Montreal, QB - Soma > 21 Detroit, MI - St Andrews Hall > 22 Toronto, ON - The Guvernment > 23 Chicago, IL - Metro > 25 Denver, CO - Ogden Theatre > 27 San Francisco, CA - Maritime > 28 Los Angeles, CA - Coachella Festival "God help us. It's not as ambient as other material, but it's good nontheless! - -Jason -- "had his house made upside-down.." # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 02 Mar 2001 09:39:47 -1000 From: "dirk dogood" Subject: RE: (orb) re: cd prices suck hmmm...all without andy at the controls... after listening over and over to cydonia, i have but on conclusion: im going to miss andy's influence. d now playing: cydonia V1 >From: "Meredith, Justin" >To: "'orb@lists.xmission.com'" >Subject: RE: (orb) re: cd prices suck >Date: Fri, 2 Mar 2001 13:08:53 -0500 > > >-> The new tunes were definitely >->littered with >->sounds of the Korg electribes > >the one's i noticed were Plum Island, 1,1,1 and Thursday's Keeper... _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 2 Mar 2001 16:18:19 -0500 From: "Meredith, Justin" Subject: RE: (orb) re: cd prices suck - ->after listening over and over to cydonia, i have but on - ->conclusion: im going - ->to miss andy's influence. yea - i know what'cha mean... # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 2 Mar 2001 16:24:54 -0500 (EST) From: Anthony Bryan Subject: Re: (orb) FTP follow-up cuteftp works nice. my site has them too, but chain reaction is much faster...but it seems either busy or just down. ftp://moresounds.dyn.dhs.org login: anonymous password: YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 02 Mar 2001 21:40:02 +0000 From: Kayle Garkut Subject: (orb) Egnable. It's already been done...and it's up on at least one of the FTPs. > all these dj sets are grrrreat! Yeah, but they do seem kind of samey; between the other sets online, the DJ-set tour, Breezeblock, etc, there are a lot of the same tracks/samples/etc reused over and over...of course, I haven't gotten into the last two (1/25 and 2/8) Groovetech ones yet, so maybe they are different. Have there been more sets (like say, 2/22) since 2/8, or was that the last one? Eil.com carries the 2lp for 19.99 quid (not including shipping), but also usually has all four Once More 12"s (three "promo" and one regular UK) if you want to save on shipping. I ordered the Special Edition CD from them for 12 quid (including shipping) or about $18 which also seems to be about the best deal around. Does anyone have the single LP, and does it have EDM? As for the Coachella debate, I'm definitely going to use every bit of resouce I have (which ain't much ) to go to both California shows!
