And *we* are disagreeing with the idea that you LINK these people to doing substances. What I said before was that people who dance like that aren't necessarily on drugs. You said that she was high and that's why she was behaving that way. Note you say: There *are* people that get high and do freaky stuff that bothers you. Fair enough. There are also people who do that and DON't get high in order to do so. Your argument implies that there is some kind of cause and effect type relationship between smoking and acting like an idiot. THAT is what I am disagreeing with. :) Your words: "There are people who drink or smoke or whatever and get wrapped up and ignore others and they should go in a corner." I agree with you that people who need space to dance (I do! :P) should move to an area where there is less space. But to assume that the REASON for their acting that way is the substances they have ingested is wrong. That's what we disagree upon. What I'm trying to get across is that its silly to say "Those people who are flailing about are all stoned" because the simple fact is that they are not. Nor is there a relationship going the other way; people who smoke don't ALL dance like idiots or act like idiots. This is the point upon which we agree. :) > Your mileage may vary. Maybe some of you enjoy that kind of experience > or feel it goes with the territory. I don't. Many people I know don't. Well, as much as we'd all love to go to a club where everyone has their own little space and doesn't have to touch anyone else or violate their personal space, this is not the case. Club owners oversell, patrons want to both be as physically close as possible to the group to be able to see, and also want to dance. I think they should have the right to. But its up to each individual person to decide WHERE in a space they should dance. It is bad judgement in THIS area that you are angry at, and I think you should direct your anger accordingly, as opposed to focusing it upon some assumed CAUSE for these people's inability to judge where to dance. Am I making sense or am I just sounding like an idiot? :) Personally, being a tall man who weighs a lot, I am forced to find space. If this means I have to leave the immediate stage area or that I must find a spot to dance on the edge of the dancefloor, than so be it. I am considerate of others and I know how much it sucks to be stepped upon, smacked, etc, by someone trying to take more space than is available. > Fire away, I'm done trying to explain. Nor is there a relationship going the other way; people who smoke don't ALL dance like idiots or act like idiots. This is the point upon which we agree. :)< OK, I'm not coming across the right way then. Try this. I'm not suggesting that all who smoke dance like idiots or become rude, etc. On the contrary, there were people who were smoking around me who did ~not~ act like this. There were also people drinking who were cool. No problem whatsoever. I'm not uptight about the chemicals. HOWEVER - this particular girl got stoned, proceeded to "get into her own world" for lack of a better term, and then do the dancing, etc. I wrote before that I attributed this ~partly~ to the pot, not entirely. Certainly I know there are plenty of people out there who don't require substances to be jerks. I would never try to make a blanket statement like "all the pot smokers at the show were idiots and oblivious, etc.". That would be rather hypocritical of me to do considering my past. So, with my "get in a corner" statement - what I was trying to say was, if you're going to get stoned ~and~ become oblivious and self absorbed as this person did, find your own area. I consider drinkers and straight people who act the same way in the same light, but because my experience was with someone who was smoking I used only that in trying to make my point. >>Well, as much as we'd all love to go to a club where everyone has their own little space and doesn't have to touch anyone else or violate their personal space, this is not the case. Am I making sense or am I just sounding like an idiot? :)<< No, not at all. And it may be an assumption, but I feel pretty safe in making it. I feel that her being high was partly a cause in her being so oblivious. Surely, anyone who's gotten high has at some time gotten to a point where you're a bit wrapped up in yourself and not so aware of your surroundings? >>Personally, being a tall man who weighs a lot, I am forced to find space. If this means I have to leave the immediate stage area or that I must find a spot to dance on the edge of the dancefloor, than so be it. I am considerate of others and I know how much it sucks to be stepped upon, smacked, etc, by someone trying to take more space than is available.<< That's excellent. I respect you for that, because sometimes it sure seems like there aren't enough people that share your attitude. I have ~always~ tried to be considerate of people around me at shows, movies. I don't expect total silence, single file lines, no physical contact whatsoever, etc. Just a bit of common courtesy. >>It's just a misunderstanding, my friend. In fact, I'm pretty sure that you're all either figments of my existentialist imagination or more likely are all hallucinations induced by days of nonstop programming under the influence of psychotropic chemicals and Orb music. I'm sure it's probably a shared hallucination. Particularly those people who believe that they've been to Orb concerts. What you don't know is that the Orb is just one small part of an Illuminati plot to keep the Discordians in check by convincing them to smoke lots of that "damnable Wog hemp" and imbibe other dangerous mind-transforming chemicals, and intoxicate them with alluring music, all in the hopes of keeping them out of commission and unable to harm the Illuminati's latest major project which is of course (as usual! -- don't these guys have any imagination?) Immanentization of the Eschaton, this time via orbital mind control lasers all mounted on various orbital platforms of which the International Space Station is only the first, and all of these lasers eventually when in operation will be beaming non-stop advertisements for the products of large metanational megacorporations which should cause the entire populace of Earth to expend their total energies in a mass orgy of consumerism, gutting every store and commercial outlet in a frenzy much like a factorial combination of the Cabbage Patch, Tickle-Me-Elmo, and Pokemon Riots, and the eventual outcome of this consumatory orgy will be the death by trampling of billions of helpless humans under the feet of their fellow beings and the suffocation of billions more by drowning in discarded shopping bags, receipts, and check stubs, all of which will finally commence towards a mass suicide when the remaining humans come to a realization of their activities and discard their lives like so many discarded McDonald's cheeseburger wrappers, which of course will result in the Illuminati Immanentizing the total Eschaton and the Ascendance of every Illuminatus to the state of energy beings, at which point they will set forth on their goal of total destruction of the Universe by accelerating the Heat-Death to the point where the sum total effects of entropic force all collapse in one giant wave of self-annihilation and the entire Universe will cease to exist, this being their goal because they dislike how Eris was involved in its creation and hence contains far too much Chaos for their liking which they would replace with another Universe composed of neatly ordered matter all in the shape of cubes rather than based around the 60-degree geometry that the Greeks first discovered and Buckminster Fuller elaborated upon in his book "Synergetics".
