That's the way ONCE MORE started at Coachella. They were cut off just before the breakbeat attack. I was sensing it was going to be the Cauty Mix from the dark blue 12" promo. Wicked! After going through a pretty annoying download - register - download - register process, and getting some crap added to your system tray, eventually you get this Daft Player and some songs that it can play... Mostly remixes and live stuff, if you're hankering for more Daft Punk, it's worth it.... Some stuff from both Homework and Discovery. I don't know how rare the stuff they have up there is, since I haven't really looked for rare Daft Punk before on or offline.... anyone else know? - ---- Jeff A Klein Bottle has zero volume, so we suggest that you do not use it as a personal flotation device. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 May 2001 11:09:23 -0700 From: "gliddenm@nettaxi.com" Subject: (orb) RE: daft punk DQo+QWxzbywgbm90IHRoYXQgSSB3YW50IHRvIGx1bXAgRGFmdCBQdW5rIGluIHdpdGggQWly LCBidXQgd2FzIGFueW9uZSBhcw0KPmRpc2FwcG9pbnRlZCB3aXRoIHRoZWlyIGxhdGVzdCBv ZmZlcmluZyBbRGlzY292ZXJ5XT8gVGhlaXIgdmlkZW8gW1N0b3J5DQo+QWJvdXQgRG9ncywg QW5kcm9pZHMsIEZpcmVtZW4gQW5kIFRvbWF0b2VzXSBpcyB3ZWxsIHdvcnRoIGEgd2F0Y2gu DQoNCiAgICAgICAgIGhtbS4uLmFwcGFyZW50bHkgaSdtIGdvaW5nIGFnYWluc3QgdGhlIGdy YWluIGhlcmUsIGJ1dCBpIExPVkUgImRpc2NvdmVyeSIuLi5pICpyZWFsbHkqIGxpa2VkIGFi b3V0IGhhbGYgdGhlIHNvbmdzIG9uICJob21ld29yayIsIGJ1dCB0aGUgb3RoZXIgaGFsZiB3 ZXJlIHByZXR0eSBkYW1uZWQgbWVkaW9jcmUuLmJ1dCB0aGUgbmV3IG9uZSwgaSB0aGluayBh bGwgdGhlIHRyYWNrcyBhcmUgdmVyeSBzdHJvbmcuLml0J3MgZ290IGEgZ29vZCBwYWNlIHRv IGl0LCBpIHRoaW5rLi5zcGVlZCB1cCBmb3IgYSBmZXcgc29uZ3MsIHNsb3cgZG93biBhIGJp dCwgc3BlZWQgdXAuLi5pIGFsc28gZG9uJ3QgaGF2ZSBhIHByb2JsZW0gd2l0aCBjaGVlenkg dm94IHRoZXkgc2VlbSB0byBsaWtlIG9uIHRoZSBuZXcgYWxidW0gKG9uZSBtb3JlIHRpbWUv ZXRjKS4uYWxsIGluIGFsbCwgaSB0aGluayBpdCdzIG9uZSBvZiB0aGUgYmVzdCBuZXcgY2Qn cyBpJ3ZlIGhlYXJkIGluIGEgd2hpbGUuLg0KICAgICAgICAgYWxzbywgdGhlIG5ldyBtdXNp YyB2aWRlb3MgZnJvbSB0aGUgbmV3IGFsYnVtIGFyZSAqQVdFU09NRSogYXMgd2VsbC4uaSd2 ZSBvbmx5IHRoZSBmaXJzdCAyIHNvIGZhci4udGhleSdyZSBkaXJlY3RlZCBieSB0aGUgZ3V5 IHRoYXQgZGlkIG9sZHNrb29sIGFuaW3pIHN0dWZmIChzdGFyYmxhemVycyBhbmQgYWxsIHRo YXQgamF6eikuLnN1cHBvc2VkbHkgdGhleSdyZSBtYWtpbmcgdmlkZW9zIGZvciBldmVyeSBz b25nIG9uIHRoZSBhbGJ1bSwgYW5kIGl0J3MgYSBjb250aW51aW5nIHN0b3J5IGxpbmUuLi5p IGhvcGUgdGhhdCB0aGV5IHJlbGVhc2UgYSBkdmQgb2YgdGhlbSBhZnRlciBpdCdzIGFsbCBk b25lLi50aGV5J3JlIGdyZWF0IHNvIGZhci4uaWYgYW55b25lIHdhbnRzIHRoZSBmaXJzdCAy IG9uIG9uZSBvZiB0aGUgdmFyaW91cyBmdHAncyBhcm91bmQsIGxldCBtZSBrbm93Li5pJ3Zl IGdvdCAnZW0uLg0KICAgICAgICBhbmQgaSBmaW5hbGx5IHJlZ2lzdGVyZWQgd2l0aCB0aGUg ZGFmdHB1bmsuY29tIGRlYWxpZSBsYXN0IG5pZ2h0Li5pIHdhcyBraW5kYSBkaXNhcHBvaW50 ZWQuLi5pdCdzIGdvdCByZW1peGVzIGFuZCB0aGF0IHN0dWZmLCBidXQgbm90IHRoYXQgZXhj aXRpbmcuLmkgYXQgbGVhc3QgZXhwZWN0ZWQgdGhlIG11c2ljIHZpZGVvcyB0byBzdHJlYW0g KGkgZGlkbid0IHNlZSAnZW0gdGhvdWdoKS4uLm9oIHdlbGwuLg0KICAgICAgICBzbyB5ZWFo LCBpIGdpdmUgbWFkIHByb3BzIHRvIHRoZSBuZXcgYWxidW0gOikgIGFuZCBpZiB5b3UgaGVh cmQgdGhlIGFkdmFuY2UgcHJvbW8gYW5kIGRpc21pc3NlZCBpdCwgc2V2ZXJhbCBvZiB0aGUg c29uZ3MgZ290IGltcHJvdmVkIG9uIHRoZSBmaW5hbCBtaXguLmRlZmluaXRlbHkgZm9yIHRo ZSBiZXN0Li4NCg0KICAgICAgICBhbmQgbm93IGJhY2sgdG8gbW9ieS4uLg0KICAgICAgICA7 KQ0KICAgICAgICBtYXR0Lg0KDQotLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0t LS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0NCldJTiAkMSwwMDAsMDAwIFBsYXkgTmV0dGF4 aSBMb3R0bw0KaHR0cDovL3N3ZWVwcy5uZXR0YXhpLmNvbQ0K # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 May 2001 14:11:20 -0500 From: John Goelzer Subject: RE: (orb) Air > Whilst on the subject, does anyone have any > live recordings from TV etc? Sort of. I picked up a used copy of Issue 6 of the DVD-based Circuit music magazine, and, in addition to some (pretty funny) interview footage and the video for "Le Soleil...," there's footage of Air performing one of the songs from the Virgin Suicides OST live. It's OK, nothing spectacular. Maybe on his sets LX uses twice the track to do it longer OR he did an Orb remix. After all, The Doors have been remixed, why not the King ? Excellent 2 CD, BTW. Speaking of live performances, if you were behind the soundboard at the SF Orb show, you could see someone doing live video mixing of concert footage during Witchman's set. They did *not* do this for the Orb set, and I don't know if they did it for Autolump; I was down on the floor for Autolump's set, but since I seemed to be an asshole magnet that night (3 separate incidents of extreme antisocial behavior in the space of Autolump's set), I gave up and joined my companions in the balcony right after Autolump. (My friend has a trick knee and uses a cane; she and my partner parlayed that into being let into the balcony long before the rest of the crowd, and they snagged the best seats in the house.) :D However, the Maritime has two outlets for live video; they stream it, and they also have a syndicated TV program...so...interested parties might want to keep their eyes open, and give a shout to the list if it comes up. 2B1 rotates their stream every so often, and they don't seem to have an accessible archive, so if and when it comes up, you need to nab it fast. 2B1 has also been known to release concert CDs of Maritime shows; I've heard a couple, and they sound great...an Orb concert release would be to die for. :) Chris np: Massive Attack - Singles Box Set # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orb" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orb@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 May 2001 23:07:03 +0200 From: derrien@club-internet.fr Subject: (orb) OT Daft Punk Digital Love : One of my favorite tracks of the year. The version of Once More they played in SF was strictly pre-recorded (everyone left the stage during it), so, whatever you heard is probably available on one of the various promos out there. (Personally, I found that a bit sterile, but without a vocalist, there wasn't much else they could do, I suppose...) And yes, there are two Jimmy Cauty remixes (long and short) of Once More...both promo only, the long version is on one of the 12"s, and the short version is on the promo CD. A week or so before the Once More single was released, Jason Bentley played a version of Once More on the late nite Afterhours show on KROQ here in Los Angeles. This was the same show were he played the original version of Once More waaaay back when that I managed to record. This latest mix was one I never heard and Jason only described it later as "a rather strange mix" of the song. Very heavy beats, not breaks as I classify it, but I can understand it being called as such. Only heard it the one time, which fortunately I managed to record. As Jason Green said, Anyone ???? I'm still pretty sure that the bass line of the Alex version is taken from a Bentley Rhythm Ace tune (who may have taken it from someone else, of course) off of the self titled disc that was released on cd a few years back. I can't remember which tune it was on the disc, and I'm too lazy to go pull it out and scan it right now. The Alex version seems to be the studio elvis version and possibly some of the live version as well with the bass and drums lines looped for the bridge in the Alex version. It'd be nice if he could release the mix in some way where it's isolated from the rest of the tracks. Alex took a great song and made it better. Oh well, my .02.
