The DeNami ribbon is the same ribbon the artist Nami makes in her designs and sells through her company DeNami Designs, it's also seen throughout the catalog. Veronica Rubber Stamped POB 20357 Oakland, CA 94620 ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Sep 1997 17:39:53 +0000 From: "Lori Blaauw" Subject: RubberTown: Good Service Vendors - My opinion I would like to add a positive note here to anyone who might feel a little reluctant to order from vendors on the list. Find out someone on the list whose opinion you respect (from messages posted, and whatnot) and email them privately and get their opinion of who might be a good vendor, a reliable vendor to order from. I would like to put in my two cents here and put a definite vote out for Shaunna Frasure! I just order a whole bunch of Stampendous Nestlings from her, and I got them in good time. She kept me abreast of the status of my order the whole time. Also, I would like to thank Evo (Ellen!) for her continued wonderful service. Though I admit to not having ordered in a long time, it isn't because I wasn't pleased with her service. Her turn around time is incredible, and I must say she couldn't possibly have even waited for my check to get to her before I got my order. Also, Mariann at SCP does an excellent job (and the reason I haven't order in a long time is the same for EVO - I have ended up attending a convention every month nearly this year and I just don't have that much cash left over!) Another vendor I highly recommend is Tonya Rilling. I got ALL the detail EPs that she offered and I got them is great time and I love them. I am still scraping together the $$ so I can get her catalog, because I have a feeling there are stamps there I must have. And Tonya, I am not just saying nice things because I hope you will be in the stamp show I hope to do next year in Florida. :-) I mean it. So, can anyone else add their praises for vendors that we should be patronizing? I think some positive reinforcement, as well as letting those who seem to be letting us down know what kind of service we would prefer, is needed here! ######################## Lori Blaauw 218 Gladys Ave. #A Mtn View CA 94043 ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Sep 1997 20:43:12 -0700 From: ruthann@key-net.net (Ruthann Gigliotti) Subject: RubberTown: COMM Art Impressions FREE SHIPPING I'm overstocked with Art Impressions. Sometimes it is hard to remember everyone, and sometimes I may want to order when a sale is not going on. I know this would be a large task to take on, but perhaps a couple of us could do the typing, one person compiles and we could either post or do mailings. I do know there are times when someone thinks a vendor should not be included, but the list should include everyone interested in being included. Word of mouth or in this case "list" will let people know the problems associated with a particular vendor and the person can make up their own mind if they want to use the vendor. I am trying to get this resolved so please be patient - I will try only twice this time! I have a Dove blender and just got a Tombow blender. I use Marvy brush markers and watercolour paper. No matter how fast I am, NOTHING BLENDS. All I get is the original mark I made with the Marvy marker and if I persist - a ruined paper surface. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I know others are successful in achievving a gentle blend. Anna ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Sep 1997 06:34:04 -0400 From: "John M. Nielsen" Subject: RubberTown: list vendors Lori - I agree with you wholeheartedly. I hate to see anyone panned on the list so I try to remember to acknowlege great service publicly on the list. Ellen from Evolving Images is great, Tonya from Buffalo Stampede - I've only ordered once but the service was super, Betsy the Rubber Chicken Lady wonderful also and Mariann at SCP. And I won't hesitate to order from Jing because I've seen so much praise for her right here. I've probably missed someone and I hope that won't make them mad at me! But I take my cues from the list and I can figure out for myself that if no-one is acknowledging great service then I'm probably wise to stay away. I also check the postmark on my package and often find that the vendor was incredibly fast and Post Office incredibly slow - so I know where to lay the blame for slow orders and it's almost always the P.O.! The secret is to lay down a heavy covering of the Dove blender on your paper FIRST. Then add a heavy streak of color and spread it out. I have wonderful success with this.... Another tip...the DOVE blender is great with chalks. I have the soft chalk palette (can't remember who makes it) that a lot of stampers use. I just dip my Dove tip in the corner of my chalk, then spread it on my paper. Add more chalk to add more coverage.... I use the corner of my chalk so as not to use up or mess up the whole block... Try it! I think you'll be surprised! This has to be very difficult for the new members to sort through. We see vendors advertising their wares all over the place, and in order for us to send the money, we have to have a lot of faith and trust in the vendor. But in this medium, how is that possible? I'm still relatively new to all of this, but I have purchased a bit from some of the vendors here. I have been burned a couple of times and have learned from those burns. However, there are some vendors who have proven to be trustworthy and very prompt. I buy from Ruthann probably more than anyone else, and she is a real gem. :-) Thanks, Ruthann, for all the hard work and cheerful service. It's appreciated more than you know. Ellen Gordon is also very prompt and always with a smile. I'm very glad I got to meet her at the Massachusetts rs fair, so that I feel I really *know* one vendor now. :-) And Tonya - you have unique creations there and you are wonderful to your customers. I would buy from you again in a heartbeat. After reading some of your posts, I look forward to purchasing from other vendors here. And I'm making my own private list of those vendors from whom to stay away, at least for the time being. I realize that some people go through bad times and there is a chance for change. I certainly hope that will be so. One day I read a glowing report about one of the vendors, so I thought I'd order a package of vellum. I was very happy with the service, and have ordered from this person since. The vendor is Fran Robertshaw, email address FranRShaw@aol.com. Fran has kept me up-to-date on the status of my order (ie when my check was received, when the package was mailed), and has also answered my many paper questions. So, it is a great idea to praise the folks who do a fantastic job. If it wasn't for that first report I read, I probably would still be chucking vendor listings! And Silence does speak louder than words.
