Potratz) Subject: RubberTown: TRIBE received by Eloise Potratz My TRIBE package actually arrived Saturday, but it was raining and didn't fit in my mailbox, so my neighbors kindly took it in out of the rain for me. Sorry to be late in posting about it! Hope you weren't worried about it being delayed. I have an exceptionally thoughtful TRIBE buddy who obviously puts a lot of care into the packages she sends me. My heart was touched. I'm still very much a newbie and so, she kindly puts notes on things for me so I'll know what they are and how to use them. Included this time were: - cold laminating sheets (and directions of how to use them) - - stickers she made for me (stamped in variety of colors) and put in a little baggie with a note that they are "Stickers to help you hold things together." - - a large dish towel hand stamped all over with shells and starfish (I love the ocean!) using a rainbow colored ink. - - a large sheet of handmade paper that has a really cool texture - - a bookmark she made for me which has special corner cutouts, has a heart punched out as part of the design, and then two different border stamps in colors ranging from turquoise to rosy violet. This has a tassel made from embroidery floss (strands all separated) - an idea I'd not seen nor thought of but will definitely use. The bookmark is laminated and very special! - - a sheet of smooth plastic, translucent but with a wavy design in it that makes me think of white-capped waves. I don't know what this is for or how to use it, so am hoping my buddy will send word through someone. Please? - - last but not least, a beautiful (and large!) stamp of spring flowers in a wreath shape made by Sonlight Impressions. Some of the flowers in it are tulips, daffodils, I think bluebells, and one exceptionally lovely iris. This stamp made me think of childhood days with my grandmother and literally brought tears to my eyes. Thank you, TRIBE buddy, for your generosity, your patience in explaining things for me, the obvious thoughtfulness of your packages, and for how you've brightened my week. Again you've made me feel special. Sincerely and gratefully, Eloise - - ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Jan 1998 22:32:13 -0500 From: "Victoria T. Flaherty" Subject: RubberTown: Swaps I was very sad to read your post Kimberlee. I am so sorry that with your serious health concerns, you had to worry yourself with this "nonsense"!! Brenda's post covered many of my thoughts and feelings, but want to add.... Please remember, that your health is critical, your illness is NOT minor. I too, am in one of your swaps and frankly, your health is more important to me than a few cards! I knew that when you were able, you would swap the cards out. I suppose that is because I know and trust you, but also that you posted to the list about your condition. To accuse you of "stealing" the cards is lubricious!!!! I know you would not respond in kind because you are such a sweet person. However, I hope you use the delete key and put these comments in the "trash" where they belong! You are a valued list member and the list is enriched by your presence and would be diminished by your absence. When you are feeling better and host your next swap, I would not hesitate to join!!!! I would like to RAK someone who has never been RAKed, but I don't necessarily want to pick a name from a list. I'm afraid I'll pick someone who already has 3 cards coming to them and the person below them might not get anything. I've already been RAKed many times so I don't need to be RAKed in return. I think I'll wait till all RAKees have been RAKed then find someone who's not on the RAK list and has never been RAKed and send to them. Robyn, you sure are sweet to try so hard to accomodate everyone, it's not easy to make a whole group of people happy!
