My parcel was waiting for me when I arrived home this morning ! It was so exciting but I refrained until I had read the rest of the mail, made myself a cuppa and rang my friend Mary. Am I patient or what ! The box was white with gold stars and had no clues on it WHATSOEVER ! The Post Office addy had been crossed out (very clever !) and had from Your Secret Stamper on the back. Hmm. Inside were several parcels wrapped in white paper with red hearts all over. My SST is organised - a Valentines parcel ! Let's see - a cutting mat and scalpel. Very useful. Several sheets of Red and White card tied in red ribbon - time to make DH a card. Inkums carousel horses - great ! I didn't have them ! Watercolour pencils - FABULOUS ! Crystal Kindy glitz - my favourite colour - how did you know I was nearly out ! A gorgeous red heart stamped candle. Heart Stamped soaps - one each for my girls. They were thrilled to get a gift too ! A little parcel for DH. I nearly opened this myself - couldn't wait till he got home from work. A jar of Kissing Chocolate ! The Heart shaped card said "Hope you can put this to good use " ! LOL !! Something else ... yes that's right - 4 cherry ripes - GONE !! Yummy !! The girls and I ate them after school - even saved one for DH. And I forgot, confetti EVERYWHERE ! Thanks SST. This is so much fun. Can't wait till next month .. Something that implies friendship, good will, a positive business relationship etc. but it can't be too mushy or too specific. Does that make sense? These will be given to my hubby's business associates, most of whom he's never met, when he travels to China (and Russia if I can get them done by tomorrow night). It's customary to exchange small gifts when they come here or we go there and my hubby's boss said one of my cards would mean more to them than anything we could buy (which usually has a 'made in China' sticker on the back anyway). So...these sweet friendship sentiments won't work at all but something that implies friendship without sounding too Hallmark is what I need. As always, thank you! My job is to have each of these people remembered through out the year for their birthdays and other holidays. (most of them do not have any family) I started out as a volunteer 4 years ago doing the Christmas project. The project included getting presents for the clients so they too could have a Christmas. This year is the first year we are trying to make it possible for them to be remembered all through the year. I am writing to you to ask if your members would be interested in donating a card here and there for them. Birthdays are my big focus right now, but gladly accept any cards through out the year. Any type of card is great, just to give you an idea about the clients the biggest christmas item, what most of them want is a stuffed animal. So something we would consider a kids card would be great for them. Adult cards too. There are over 600 people I help and from all ranges of life. Now that I've overwelmed you with the numbers. Here's what I'm asking. If the next time you sit down to make cards you could make a second card and send this would be great. My address is Robin Cordell, 738 5th Ave North, Kent, WA 98032. If you have any questions my e-mail address is robin.cordell@mci2000.com. Also, if any one knows of another elderly person that could be helped by my project please don't hesitate to submit thier name and address. I'd like to thank you in advance for your consideration. I received three wonderful surprises in the mail today - my first RAKs! Linda Israel from Yukon, OK sent me a red card with gold embossed hearts and the DOTS stamp, On The Phone, which is a girl sitting in a chair chatting on the phone. The surprise was inside where she had included a star ornament that I will practive making later. It was especially nice. Deborah - email me privately at delester@juno.com - your address could not be read and would love to correspond. The third RAK was from Shannon Green in Wichita Falls, TX - I know now what my next convention pins will be. It is a fold out (accordian) book that is 1" x 1 1/2" that opens to show her name/address. Outside is light pink speckled paper, pink paper inside with a crescent moon attached to front, tied with white ribbon. Precious! Thank you to all --makes me want to go RAK a bunch of folk!
