It is full of wonderful ideas. I am so glad I participated. In no particular order: 1. Diane (dsg@juno.com)'s card on dark blue cardstock with pink corrugated paper layered at an angle, and a third layer, black, with the message on the front with red/blue Pearl Ex over cranberry ink. Festooned with a raffia bow. Very striking, Diane 2. Sandy Lane, with her card that begs to be touched! Heart on pink cardstock, done with decorating paste through a stencil, colored with gallery glass and over-colored with Pearl Ex mixedinto Elmer's white caulk. I must try that! Thanks, Sandy. 3. Debbie Popish did a 3 dimensional card, also. The neutral background has stamped leaves with Pearl EX , on a dark green card, and on top of that is a bunch of grapes, held out from the card with a foam dot, and the addtion of a sweet purple bow. Very nice. 4. Karin Cernik did a card on dark green cardstock, with leaves stamped and embossed in gold, with russet (I think) Pearl Ex rubbed in. It came in a clear envy, but I didn't want to open it, as it also contained a bunch of confetti leaves! An extra treat! 5. Sandy Kavanagh's "primitive" card almost defies description. It has so many elements! A wonderful background, a piece of stamped, textured shelf- lining, two stamped layered pieces, hand-worked gold border...this just must be seen to be appreciated, and I was one of the lucky ones to have one and appreciate it for the beautiful piece of work it is! I now have 5 great new ideas for using Pearl Ex, thanks to the above, and also to Kari, for hosting this swap. - --ann - - ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 14 Feb 1998 13:05:16 -0800 From: Sy & S Liles Subject: RubberTown: AD/Colored cardstock $10/75 sheets Hi there! (Sorry this is VERY long) Today I received my final Tribe package. How sad it's ended ALL to soon! How can I thank you Carolyn!? Carolyn Woo known as Stampenpal was my Tribe Buddy. I can't even begin to describe the excitement at my house! It started when the mail lady honked in the driveway. Right away I knew what it was. My husband went out to investigate and then my 14 year took off like a shot. It was a HUGE box. We all crowded around the table, everyone watching each snip of the scissors as I cut the tape that held the lid on. Inside were sooooo many things! Carolyn you are the BEST triber anyone could hope to have. Wrapped in an evelope made from a magazine was a beautiful Valentine card. On the outside was a label that said, "Especially for Diana." She layered her card first with a round embossed stamp of flowers, is that black or copper embossing powder you used. Underneath was a white lace heart doily and underneath that was red cardstock with decorations punched at each corner, mounted on white cs. Inside was a beautiful letter! She also included a picture of her and her husband! I'm going to put you two on my stamping desk! The picture was part of her card and had a frame stamped around it. Inside was a box wrapped in a really neat wrapping paper. The wrapping paper has all kinds of postage sayings on it. I have everything all mixed up now, so I'll try to remember what was inside. Inside was a package of gummed foiled red hearts, a small heart shaped tin with carnations on the outside, inside was a carnation scented candle. A heart shaped ink pad from personal stamp exchange called sunflower, I don't have that color, thanks. A little red rubber heart guy, he's so cute. A headband tiara made with red hearts on top, it has light bulbs in the hearts (now I can be the queen of hearts)! Two sachets one mulberry and the roses. A pkg of stickers (they are so cute) She also gave me two boxes of Twinnings Teas, one is peach & passionfruit and the other is strawberry and mango. To go with these she sent me a mug and a coaster that she stamped on! How did you do that? I've never seen a kit to make a coaster! You will have to let me know where you got it, I have a friend that would LOVE one! I also received a whole bag of unmounted's, Viva Las Vegas maybe? They are really cool and I don't have ANY of them! She also sent four sheets of handmade paper. Did you make these yourself? They are really cool! She also sent me a toilet tissue cover crocheted with a doll! My youngest keeps calling her the toilet tissue queen. She's very pretty and I love the colors! Finally at the bottom of the box was a book made out of cloth with my name stitched in plastic with lace around it. It's sooooo beautiful! Inside she included all types of information about stamping! I will treasure this ALWAYS!!!! It's perfect to put all the other information on stamping in there that I have. I'm going to take it with me when I teach my classes. Carolyn I can't thank you enough!!! I hope that some day we can get together and stamp! I would love to meet you. Thanks again and I hope your buddy was as good to you as you were to me! - -- Diana starlite@internet1.net http://www.internet1.net/~starlite/diana.html - - ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 14 Feb 1998 17:14:31 -0500 From: Diana Sullivan Subject: RubberTown: Re: Mylar order received! You'll be refunded any extra left over. And 3 (THREE) self addressed mailing labels, please don't forget the labels, it really makes a difference in getting the swaps out faster, and I wrap the return swap in a water proof bag that will have your address label on it so if the envelope rips, the PO will still know where to send it, (and all the cards/work won't fall out loose on the floor to be lost forever, it works, too.) You can contact Linda Malcolm-Lim at linda@ashtech.com. They don't have a web site but a catalog is available, can't remember for how much, tho. It's white card stock with Happy Valentines stamped on it in red, covered with vellum with white embossed hearts stamped on and fill in with pink from the back. Then she embossed a red heart on the front with a sparkling embossing powder and topped it all off by "tying" it together with a pink ribbon. This card is so pretty. Marci also included a really nice message inside. Thanks so much Marci!!! Nadine - - ------------------------------ End of rubbertown-digest V1 #196 ********************************
