Hello Everyone I have been lurking on this list for months now and never ceased to be amazed at the wealth of talent and knowledge on this list! I am so thrilled to be able to be a part of this great group of people! :-) Since being on this list, I have seen such great outpourings of love and concern for everyone. It seems as though every time someone needs something or someone needs help, the list memebrs are jumping to help! And, I never thought I'dbe asking for help, but, well....Here I am. I am the activity director for a local nursing home and have been grasping at straws for new activities that the more active residents can do......Being a new stamper myself, I am still learning and am only at the basics. Not only that, but my taste tends to lean toward things that are not exactly appropriate for the elderly. I have one particular group of residents who love crafts and are capable of simple projects. I truly believe they would love to get into stamping as an activity! ANyway, I was wondering if any of you wonderful people would be willing to donate your old used or unwanted stamps, ink pads and or cardsstock/papers to the nursing home for the activity department. The activity department has a very very small budget and we cannot afford to buy everything we would like to have. Unfortunately, we depend a lot on donations and things from the community, churches, etc. If any of you would be willing to help, even just a tad, our residents and myself would greatly appreciate it! ANything from cardstock, stamps, anything to do the basics! Our faciltiy would be more than happy to pay you for postage for your kind generosity. ALso, I'd love to find a couple stamp clubs or some individuals who'd be willing to send some stamped cards now and then to brighten the residents days. Many of these wonderful people do not have any family, never get any mail or visitors. I really think they would be thrilled to receive soome nice mail. If any of you are intersted in helping out in any way, please email me ASAP for the mailing address of myself or the facility. Thanks again, in advance to those of you who are willing to help. Potratz) Subject: RubberTown: TRIBE rec'd - by Eloise Potratz Today the mail contained my final TRIBE package from the terrific buddy I've had - Maxine Grossman. What fun!!! The goodies were packaged in a 2-liter soft drink bottle! It contained those crinkly colored packing ribbons (paper - like Easter "grass") and heart-shaped confetti; and the items therein were packaged in:pink tissue;purple cellophane; pink heart doilie; a cellophane bag with pink, red, and white hearts; and white lacy doilies - among other things. With most packages, she'd closed them with darling stamped stickers. It looked so festive! The wrappings hid these treasures: - - biscotti - - tea - - hot chocolate - - a "Draggin' Ink Sponging Tool" and instructions on how to use it - - dark chocolates - - a paper cast which says "tea time" and has a teapot and tea cup - - two things that will make cute magnets, a bunny and a seed packet which my buddy had made with Model Magic Paper Clay (I've never seen anything like these. They're great!) - - a glow-in-the-dark star with a note saying: " . . . to remind you how special you are." - - dangling earrings she made for me that are pencils, colored and laminated - - a matchbook type thing that has a beautiful hummingbird on the front and on the back a quote about friendship ("Friends like flowers, give pleasure just by being there."). It's laminated and contains a little ziptop baggie with a band aid, safety pins, threads and needles and a few buttons. A great emergency kit for one's purse! - a Holly Berry Red ink pad - - and two stamps - a striped heart and an apple As with each of the other packages, this one was obviously thoughtfully prepared just for me. How special you've made me feel each time I've received one of the delights you sent me! You've taught me many new things and given me many new ideas. This was the first time I've ever participated in the TRIBE exchange, and I feel truly blessed to have had such a creative and thoughtful buddy. Thanks, Maxine! Number each image and put that number on the back of the die. Next to the stamped image, list the RS company (if you know it). Please DO NOT send more than 30 dies, if you do I will have to return them UNSWAPPED. In addition, defective dies will also be returned UNSWAPPED. Be sure to include a list of likes, dislikes, upcoming events, hobbies etc. so I can give you dies you will be happy to get! :-) Obviously there may be some you don't like but I will try my very best to be sure everyone gets something from their wish list. How much you get from your wish list depends on what is sent in and what everyone wants. If you don't give me a wish list - who knows what you will get so send that wishlist! I will trade 1 for 1 taking size into consideration so that a large stamp will be traded for a large or a few small/medium depending on the size etc. Also, you are welcome to send in nudes, spanish etc but you are taking a risk as if I do not get any requests for these I will have to send them back unswapped. If you have a lot of these unusual/uncommon types you may want to wait until towards the end of the swap before sending your dies and check with me so I can see if people have requested those types of dies. Mailing Info: SAML, loose stamps in amount of postage it takes you to mail me the dies PLUS 2 extra stamps (.23 fine) to help cover the cost of the envies and if your swapped dies cost more to send back. Postmark: April 3, 1998 Please don't be late, it's not fair to everyone who sends in on time. I would like to have everything swapped and out of here by April 15th. Well, I took *a chance* (although it was not really that big of a leap of faith) and ordered 2 grab bags from her. She was wonderful to deal with, confirmed my order and communicated with me throughout. I look forward to dealing with her again when her rubber stamp catalog comes out. These grab bags are truly a great value for the price. Plus, somehow she ended up shipping me only one grab bag, but caught her mistake and e-mailed me before I even received the first one, then she sent me some extra goodies in the second one, even though it was not really that big a deal (she included a goodie in the first shipment for good measure, too!). Thanks, Barbara! Look forward to chatting with you again soon.
