You can send anything(i.e. pins, magnets, bookmarks, cards, postcards) the only requirement is that it must include one handstamped bear ( teddy bear, realistic). When you receive a card or any of the other stamped items , you must send one back to the person who sent it, ( it doesn't have to be a magnet for a magnet, etc. Just a stamped item back). You are not required to acknowledge receipt , but you are required to send something back to the sender. This is a no stress swap. In other words you don't have to send immediately. It can be a week or a month later, but you do have to eventually send something. The only expense involved in this is the postage sending to other members. If you are interested in joining please email me with your name, email, and snail mail address. I will get an address list out to members ASAP. I use it all the time to make my shaker cards. Most of my shaker cards don't have things that are very thick - for thick items like coffee beans, plastic toys, etc, I would use the foam core - or sometimes I just layer the fun foam. I have two different thicknesses and choose the one most appropriate for the shaker items. I like to use different colors of fun foam to give the card an interesting twist, i.e., when I use my Tweety stamp, I use yellow, the Taz stamp demands red, etc. If I don't want the foam to show, I glue a ribbon around the exposed foam edge. I've found that good old fashioned glue - stick, tacky, elmers, etc, work great with fun foam. It's a bit messy, but it sticks and doesn't fall apart. (I usually put the card under something heavy like a stack of books so it will dry flat and all glued surfaces adhere.) I received a beautiful shaker card that totally fell apart with the humidity last summer - the person used dry line adhesive. Anyway, for the scrap pieces of foam - you can heat the foam until it curls slightly then push your rubber stamp into the foam while it is still hot - viola - you get an imprinted image of your stamp. You can also make your own stamps using fun foam. I teach classes to kids with this stuff. You can cut out images using a shape cutter (you know, the ones the school systems have), glue it to a larger item such as a thin piece of wood, a thick piece of scrap foam and then glue a spool on it for the handle. The kids love it! Then they get to stamp their own shirt. You could also just cut your own design. If I think of anything else, I'll let you know. This is truly beautiful cardstock. The grab bag includes four different neutrals (perfect for Easter or Spring cards). Included are white embossed leather, pebblestone, oyster flecks, and cottonwood. All of these are textured or have flecks or specks of a variety of neutral colors throughout the cardstock. These are not plain ho-hum papers - they are all quite beautiful. All are 80 lb. cardstock except the pebblestone which is 65 lb. I know that you will be taking a leap of faith by placing an order with me since I am a new vendor. That is why I am offering such a special price on this paper. All I ask is that you please give me a chance to show you what a wonderful vendor I will be for you. My order from "Queen La Fetti" (aka Shaunna) arrived in today's mail. Now I can't wait to start making shaker cards! (Thank you Shaunna - and thanks for the treats too!) I'm not sure how many stamps I own that can be used in shakers... I have a few "frame" stamps... and at class we cut out the big heart a teddy bear was holding... but I don't think I own any stamps that gave cut-outs... (I'm new to shaker cards...) So, does anyone have tips on how to look at your stamps differently (from a shaker point of view) especially if the stamp doesn't have any "open spaces"? I will be making another trip to Portland on Saturday, March 7th. That means I can get more petal paper for those of you who missed out last time (or if you want more!) WHAT IS IT? This is 9 pt. cardstock and matching text weight paper with REAL flower petals. The base color of the cardstock/paper is a soft white, and the dried flower petals are mostly pinks, blues, and mauves. There are 2 types... each available in cardstock weight AND text weight. Both are smooth finish (no bumps) so you can stamp, or write on them with ease. #1 - "Lots of Petals" - this one has lots of tiny petals throughout, the petals are more broken up, and denser... #2 - "Sparce Petals" - this one has fewer petals, and they are more spread out.... not such a heavy feeling..., but the petals are bigger and more colorful. HOW MUCH IS IT? "Lots of Petals" in CARDSTOCK WEIGHT - 10 sheets/$7.50 "Lots of Petals" in TEXT WEIGHT paper - 10 sheets/$3.50 "Sparce Petals" in CARDSTOCK WEIGHT - 10 sheets/$7.50 "Sparce Petals" in TEXT WEIGHT paper - 10 sheets/$3.50 BONUS - Order 1 package of each and receive 10 sheets of Royal Fiber Periwinkle, which compliments the colors in the petals so well!! **FREE!!!! :-) US Shipping: $3 for up to 100 sheets Foreign shipping: Please ask WHEN WILL I SHIP? I will be shipping these on Monday March 9th. I would like most of the monies to be here before I go pick these up (these are quite pricey, so I will only be buying what I have orders for.) Please e-mail me to reserve yours and I will send confirmation. Send check or MO to Fran Robertshaw, 2682 Beverly Dr., Medford, OR 97504. TIA, Mary >> I've used stamps of individual leaves, flowers, hearts, etc. for shaker cards. I stamped the leaves (or whatever), colored and cut them out. I cut an opening in my cardstock and glued the leaves around the opening. From that point on, proceed as you would with any shaker card. The individual images cover the edges of the opening, so you needn't be careful about the hole you cut; irregular cuts don't cause a problem. This made sure the beads didn't come off. It seems to me that if you have some of this, or a glue that dries clear and is fairly thin, say thin tacky glue, you could do the same thing here. Just paint it overt the top of the beeds once they're suck on the Magi c Tape, and let dry. Then you should be okay. Hugs,.
