The end of November I knew that I could not continue working in my present job. I had been put down by my supervisor for two years straight although she herself told me I did an excellent job. So one day I had a pity party and stayed home sick. I have always loved rubber stamping so I did a search on the internet of rubber stamps. That is how I found Rubberstampers list which led me to RubberTown. I was only on the list for about two week when I knew that I wanted to make stamps. So I asked the question on the list "How do you make rubberstamps?" I was amazed at the information I received and I have a copy of it saved for anyone that would like me to e-mail it to them. The more questions I asked of the vendors on the list the more information they gave me. These two lists have the most wonderful vendors in the world. I spoke on the phone with several of them and one was kind enough to offer to show me how to make stamps. dh and I took her up on the offer and it helped tremendously! The vendors all told me what to order and where to order from. All of my advertising so far has been done on these two lists. I want to expand that and just haven't had the time to research out bulletin boards or other means of advertising yet. I wanted to make sure and build up a customer base quickly and this meant that I had to prove to both lists that I would be a vendor that would provide quality service and a quality product. So I offered a grabbag of 75 sheet of cardstock for $10.00 including shipping. I did not make very much off of this but I do think that I proved that I will be a vendor that will take care of customers. I think that owning your own business is the most wonderful thing in the world. Business has taken off very well and I hope that my customers are as pleased with me as I am with them. If anyone would like more information regarding starting a mail order business I would be happy to pass along any information that I have learned so far. One word of caution though. dh has a stable job with a good income. I do not have to rely on this business as a means of income. I don't want anyone to think that quitting their job to do this is a get-rich-quick thing because it isn't. Rachel Kline has been a super great TRIBE Buddy ;-) In a Laffy Taffy jar I rec'd a wonder card telling me she was my TB....rub ons, 2 Le Plum markers (colors I didn't have!!), 4 wallpaper envelops with UM's in them! (some nudes!...thank you ) some very pretty purple ribbon, Pink and purple netting, a mounted stamp from the Paper Garden (toooo funny!). Then some personal things, 3 floating candles (love them but hard to find around here) a pretty ceramic ring box with flowers, Life Sense body lotion (smells so good!), and foam bath (different scent, also smells good!). Thanks Rachel for being such an AWESOME TB!! I was very lucky ;-) Hugs, Karen - ------=_NextPart_000_00BC_01BD493B.7E4FD0A0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

It's so nice to hear someone mention Taj. They are my alltime favorite stamp company. Their images are adorable! (beyond words). Since being a customer of theirs for 3 years, I have become friends with Tiki the owner. When I went to Hawaii in Sept. I went to their store (Taj Clubhouse). I was in heaven! They are the most wonderful people to deal with!!!! Back in March of 1997 I joined a rubber stamp book swap hosted by Mycala. I did my books and sent them on to Danielle Cote. That was the last I heard anything about this. A few months ago I e-mailed asking what had happened and didn't get much of a response, so I figured - bummer, what can I do. Well, what shows up in today's mail? The unopened envelope, stuffed scribbled everywhere and big red letters "RETURN TO SENDER." Inside were my books that I started. They were to be passed on to Danielle Cote, Stampinnut, Diane Brule, Pat Vidal and Mycala. I want to assure you, I did not just drop out of this swap!!!! At least now I know what happened to my books. The original postmark on the envelope MAR 29'97!!!! Unbelievable, I guess it is too late to play now.
