The same colors that she used to color the turtle were echoed in the wallpaper that she used to layer the card with! It was very beautiful Helene! Sometimes when I HAVE to stamp, I can't get started, and just feel burned out, too. What I usually do to avoid those situations is stamp extras when the muse strikes so I can have something on hand for those MUST stamp occasions. Then I wait until I am home alone, and I take out my favorite stamps and some of my favorite papers, and just PLAY!! I try coloring things different colors than before, try using new techniques I've read about, try creating new backgrounds... anything goes! My only rule is that I do it JUST FOR ME! Maybe just playing can bring the joy back into your stamping, too... Another magical trick is to practice saying the word 'No'! Sounds like you don't use it very often! It is OK not to do everything for everybody.... a lesson I had to learn the hard way. First, remember - a RAK is exactly what it says - a RANDOM act of kindness - - no obligation - no time limit - no pressure. There's loads of time to get around to RAKs - forever - if that is how long you need! If someone is keeping count then they have forgotten the meaning of RAK - it isn't a swap! I RAK people who aren't on the list - like the naughty child who most needs your love when they are the least loveable, these people may be most in need of a RAK. Those of us madly RAKing away may be in pretty good shape and not likely to be in desperate need of a RAK (I could be wrong here - but I think if you are busy RAKing you are not too hopelessly wrapped up in your troubles - no matter how many you have!). As for getting back to rubberstamping - I think you need to learn to just play for a while - do crazy stuff with your stamps - have fun - toss out the critic and just 'moodle" - that's doodling and musing all together. It will all fall into place if you just relax and give it a chance. Anna At 03:06 PM 3/18/98 -0500, Diana Sullivan wrote: >Hi All, > >I thought that I would pick your brains a bit, if you don't mind. Oh Mary, That is a good question. Where to find the time to actually sit down and stamp. I'm a single mom of two, work fulltime, and attempt to play chauffeur, chef, laundry person, shopper, etc etc etc. You know that routine. There's rarely time that I sit down and create a whole project form start to finish. What I find that I do many times is stamp out whole sheets of images that I can take with me. I have a clipboard thingy that acts like a mini-desk. I have it filled with all my markers and I slip in the sheets of stamped and/or embossed images. That way, when I'm sitting at the guitar lessons, or the doctor's office, or the school or wherever I can color to my hearts content. I then have all these images to use if and when I finally find the time to sit and assemble some cards. It seems to work well but it certainly doesn't lend itself to trying the many new techniques I read about here. If you find the secret please let me know! - - ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Mar 1998 20:12:29 -0500 From: ramyoung831@juno.com Subject: RubberTown: Re: RAK'd Again I just received a RAK in the mail today from Rene Rosenberg. It was the most wonderful card as it had a Unicorn on the front. There's nothing as magical or mystical as a Unicorn. It took up the whole front and it was on a rock. Rene stamped it on white cs layered on top of flecked maroon cs. The Unicorn was embossed in gold. There were silver stars in a sky that was done beautifully in reds and blues; done with colored pencils. I wonder what scissors she used to cut the white cs. I've never seen that before. Thankx Rene. You're wonderful. Marachel _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. I think this may be ground pumice called Pounce , used by calligraphers. I think I'll try the used dryer conditioner sheets instead. - -- Yvonne - - ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Mar 1998 20:41:03 -0500 From: "Mariann at S.C.P. Hi Mary, It's funny that you should ask that. I stamp late at night usually. I have two teenage kids, so there isn't a lot of maintenance there. They pretty much take care of themselves except for dinner. I don't really have a job per se. I teach once a week on Mondays for two hours. I also teach rubberstamping here in my town. The rubberstamping classes I teach are scheduled for Tues. & Thurs. evenings, if I have any one signed up. If not, then I don't teach. I like to stamp late at night, because it's soooo quiet. Usually that's when I get the best ideas. Some times I will stamp late in the afternoon. After my kids have come home, but before my hubby gets home. - -- Diana starlite@internet1.net http://www.internet1.net/~starlite/diana.html - - ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Mar 1998 20:52:31 -0600 From: Sara Humphery-Knight Subject: RubberTown: COMM: Postage Stamps The postage stamps are $1.25 for a package of 10. Hi all, Thanks for all the wonderful suggestions. You all made me feel better. One of these days I will start filling the mail boxes again! I have another question though... In Oct. I went to the Chicago Convention and there was a lovely cabinet made from wood there. It held several clear, hard, plastic drawers inside. It was perfect for holding rubberstamps, but far too expensive for me to buy. My hubby has promised to make me such a cabinet if we can find the drawers. There is a kitchen outlet near my home, where we can buy a base cabinet for a reasonable price. So, do any of you out there know what I'm talking about and do you know where we might be able to purchase just the drawers? Thanks for ALL your wonderful help!!! - -- Diana starlite@internet1.net http://www.internet1.net/~starlite/diana.html - - ------------------------------ End of rubbertown-digest V1 #281 ********************************
