From: Pete Ashdown Subject: (utvgg) CG Expo Date: 04 Aug 2001 08:38:52 -0600 I can not go down to CG Expo this next weekend due to a death in my wife's family. Is anyone from SLC going? If so, could I convince you to get me some of those new 2600 and AtariSoft releases? I'm talking about Elevator Action, Combat II, Coleco PacMan and whatever else is available along those lines. - To unsubscribe to utvgg, send an email to "majordomo@lists.xmission.com" with "unsubscribe utvgg" in the body of the message. In my opinion, the lasergames dominated the show in part because the original Dragon's Lair creators all came (Don Bluth, Gary Goldman, Rick Dyer, John Pomeroy) and because the new Dragon's Lair 3D was demo'd. I got my Dragon's Lair and Space Ace discs signed by all 4 of them and also bought a Space Ace poster and had it signed. It ruled! If you were a laserdisc game fan (and judging from your 'some guy's laser disc collection' post, it's safe to assume you're not) it was THE show to be at. Just very very cool ... - To unsubscribe to utvgg, send an email to "majordomo@lists.xmission.com" with "unsubscribe utvgg" in the body of the message. (http://www.innosystech.com/atari ; part of a work-in-progress) The crowd was mainly 2600 cart collectors, then home console cart collectors, then arcade/general Atari collectors. In that order. The laser disk games have been well-represented at several shows and were again here. They bore me silly, but are very popular. A good selection of vector (and vetrex) games. I picked up some nice-looking repro side art for my Donkey Kong. While there were a lot of nice machines, I was surprised by the classics that were NOT at the show. But you can't have everything. I picked up a "The Last Starfighter" lab cart for the 800 (a holy grail for me since 1985), which made the trip worthwhile. -Chris - To unsubscribe to utvgg, send an email to "majordomo@lists.xmission.com" with "unsubscribe utvgg" in the body of the message.
