Is it the live Painkiller deal? How can I get one of those 500 copies? Also, does anyone know of any unofficial Zorn stuff? I'd love to hear some live Naked City or Painkiller w/ Buckethead (at the KF Zorn week described on the Zorn home page) or whatever. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From beuchaw@ocdis01.tinker.af.mil Mon Dec 19 11:57:11 1994 Subject: Masada 1, Painkiller ltd, Trading tapes, etc. Hey all, I'm new to the list, but I got all the back digests and just wanted to throw my $0.02 in on some stuff. I also checked CDNow.com and they show a release date of 2 Jan for _Masada 1_ - I'm hoping my indie store can order it and get it here the day it comes out, but if he can't, CDNow is pretty good about timely delivery. What kinda logic is behind releasing Painkiller's new one regularly, then waiting and releasing ltd editions - I buy Zorn stuff (and Laswell stuff too) the day it comes out and I'm not gonna sit on my butt and wait for some cool box so I can hear the music. But I'm also not gonna buy another copy just to get the cool box! Bizarre! That sucks about Zorn walking outta the KnitFac 'cause of sponsorship (I feel just about the same way, tho), since he and it had been so beneficial to each other over the years. Hopefully this won't be a lasting deal. Just got finished reading the Zorn discography - great stuff! And also finished reading Ed's web page - more great stuff!!! BTW, Ed - my offer to tape some industrial (in exchange for that Masada video that you did for me) for you is still good. Another BTW, what's the general feeling about the trading of tapes of Zorn's performances? Frowned on, OK, or what? Anyway, glad to see a list devoted to Zorn start up, but the digest form can be a bit stifling. Oh well - glad to get the info in any form. cya brian beuchaw@ocdis01.tinker.af.mil ------------------------------------------------------------------------- From ult@storm.stormsoft.com Mon Dec 19 19:16:39 1994 Subject: Trevor Dunn Trevor Dunn > From Shiurba@aol.com Wed Dec 14 16:09:26 1994 ... > (The Masada material sounded much better on the west coast, however, > with Ben Goldberg, Trevor Dunn & Kenny Wolleson.) ... As an aside, I was surprised to see Trevor Dunn playing at Cafe DuNord (a nice blues bar/restaurant in San Francisco) a few months ago as part of the "house band," opening for Charles Brown. I wasn't able to find out whether he plays there regularly, but feel free to follow up if you're interested. -------------------------------------------------------------------------
