No. mike p.s. What ever happened to the renaming of this list? p.p.s. I too, would like to find out about the 3rd EG Painkiller disc, and also the previous Live in Japan album. Anyone have these? How do you get them? Seeya, gmg@clark.net Gary "Jazz! Hello- I will be in NYC from June 9th-18th. As the new Village Voice doesn't hit Seattle until Friday the 9th, I thought I'd write and see if any of you New Yorkers out there could recommend some "jazz" to see during this period. I'm aware of Carbon on the 10th, as well as Diamanda Galas @the K.F. from the 14th-18th. I already have my ticket to Zorn/Lurie on the 15th@town hall. I also know about Frisell/Lovano/Motian at the V.Vanguard. Anything else? I would also love to hear about a killer record store or two. Thanks in advance for any information.... -James Kirchmer in Seattle. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- From jcant@nucmar.physics.fsu.edu Wed Jun 7 00:03:28 1995 Subject: Re: ZORN DIGEST #62 > What I would like from the New York hipsters out there who know the > schedule is a recomendation as to the day(s) which would be good to attend. > I had sort of marked Thursday 22nd (Charles Gayle, Don Byron, Will Hooker, > and Myra Melford) or maybe Friday 23 (Prima Materia); or sat 24 (David ware > and Henry Thredgill) Well, I wouldn't exactly call myself a "New York hipster", but. . . . I think Don Byron I one of the best clarinet players alive. If the song Tears (the one on _Tuskegee Experiments_) doesn't do it for you, then surely his klezmer playing on the _Mickey Katz_ album would put some fire under your butt. While I've only heard a couple things of Myra Melford, what I heard was great -- she's a "smokin'" pianist. If you can't make them all, I'd say at least go for something you haven't seen before. Sadly I'm in Chicago while all that is happening -- but I do get to see Roscoe Mitchell, Dave Murray, and Mr. Byron this month. Yea!!! Anyone know where I can order this or the > _Rituals: Live in Japan_ disc? You can get it by telnetting to: cdconnection.com They have a japanese import title called "Live In Japan" so I guess that it is the same as the one known as "Rituals: Live In Japan". It's about 31 dollars. Jonas ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- From Andrew1849@aol.com Thu Jun 8 02:02:18 1995 Subject: Night Tracks Hello. I was wondering if any of you out there had any copies of the old show Night Tracks. It was hosted by David Sanborn and produced by Hal Willner. Zorn, Sun Ra, Sonic Youth, The Pixies and the Lounge Lizards are just a few of the acts I remember seeing. If anybody has copies I would be interested in purchasing and/or trading some things for copies. I have been looking for a long time and have yet to have any luck. Thanks. Oh yeah, I also wanted to mention the utter genius of Fred Frith, with and without Henry Cow. "Massacre", with Laswell and Fred Maher, which I just picked up the other day has amazed me. It is very unlike anything else I have heard from him. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
