It is available on CD and tape with the catalog number "ELEKTRA 2-61970" for CD and "ELEKTRA 4-61970". My promo copy which is a "Limited Edition" and has a generic ELEKTRA back sleeve and no booklet is numbered "ELEKTRA 2-61970-P". The "P" stands for Promo copy. Here's the little blurb from the promo: "Heralded for their brilliant, frenetic live performances, Ireland's Frames DC have built a loyal UK audience in their brief career. Legendary producer Trevor Horn caught a show and was so taken that he signed them to his ZTT label and remixed Fitzcarraldo, their debut album, which the band had released themselves. Fitzcarraldo captures the band's live power in the studio with eleven passionate, moody and melodic tunes driven by guitars and piercing streaks of violin. 'Monument' is the first single and video from Fitzcarraldo." The track listing and times are the same as listed in Joerg's "Perfect Invention". I'll keep an eye out for the release of the US single. To be quite honest though, I really don't see this band getting much airplay or fans here in the US. The songs are okay but us Americans really aren't known to be big fans of "piercing streaks of violin". Also, I don't think the lyrics are catchy enough. I mean... "My revelate..."? Maybe "Monument" but still... mark # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info ztt" in the message. # Postings must go to ztt@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ From: mark wasiel Date: Sat, 26 Oct 1996 00:26:06 -0700 Subject: (ztt) Lots o' new Ztt info... Here's the latest on ZTT in the USA: Seal is on a benefit CD called "For Our Children, Too!". Unfortunately, I still haven't been able to hear it, but I have aquired some knowledge about the track he gave. He sings "Puff (The Magic Dragon)". It doesn't list the producers on the back of the CD but the MUSE machine (a computer for customers that has some details on tracks and production info) listed most of the producers. Alas, Trevor Horn was not mentioned. Gus Dudgeon was though and I think he worked with Seal before. Therefore, I'm assuming that is who the producer is. The CD and tape is available from KID RHINO and the catalog number is 72494 (-2 for CD, -4 for cassette). 2) Seal is on the upcoming soundtrack to the Michael Jordan/Bugs Bunny film "Space Jam". This soundtrack comes out on the 29th of October (this coming Tuesday). If the track is new, which I suspect it will be, I also expect it to be produced by Trevor Horn as he seems to be into these big budget film soundtracks lately. It's possible that this track will be a single. I work at Virgin Megastore in Burbank and a customer already asked whether the song was available as a single so I assume that the track is already getting airplay. I'll keep my eyes open for the single and hope to have more info on the track Monday or Tuesday. 3) Frames DC is being released on Elektra this Tuesday as well. I've already posted about this. 4)Nothing big but the new Megastore in-store video tape (Vol 43, Nov 1996) has the video for Art of Noise "Paranoimia" on it. After actually seeing it though, I was pleasantly surprised to hear the Paranoimia '89 as the mix (this is the hippity-hop-ish one, isn't it?). The video has much footage from the live video tape (which name eludes me...but you know the one). Surprisingly, the video also has a lot of graphics from the Vectrex videogame system from 1982 (!) and the vector graphic animation of blowing up the Death Star from Star Wars. Weird. 5) Lots of copies of Art of Noise drum & Bass are available at our store. I'll try to get track info. I listened to some tracks and it was okay. Decent. Probably better than the techno compilation from a few years ago. bye mark # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info ztt" in the message. # Postings must go to ztt@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ From: sdelp@ulb.ac.be (Delpierre Stephane) Date: Mon, 28 Oct 1996 16:33:47 +0100 (MET) Subject: (ztt) suscribe ztt-digest suscribe ztt-digest # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info ztt" in the message. # Postings must go to ztt@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ From: 808boy <808boy@cracl.demon.co.uk> Date: Tue, 29 Oct 1996 09:38:55 GMT Subject: (ztt) 808State La Luz blue promo 12" Is there anyone on this list after a copy of the following? 808 State blue vinyl promo-only 12" of La Luz. For drum&bass I suppose it's fairly decent, not really my cup-of-tea. But I take exception when it's labeled Art Of Noise, and it's totally obliterated by "the UK scene's prime movers" (liner notes quote). There are a handful of tracks that you can say that's the Art Of Noise, but even those are so repetitious, what's the point? But tracks like Yebo, Kiss, and Peter Gunn are completely wasted. These are not mixes, they are lifted samples, and there is nothing innovative going on here. The first line of the liner notes states "THIS ALBUM MARKS THE ERADICATION OF ROCK AND ROLL FROM THE FACE OF THE PLANET". Well, they certainly eradicated The Art Of Noise from the face of this disk. Another presumption on the part of the producers (or perhaps it's just me): "The Drum and Bass Collection is the third in a series of Art of Noise re-mix albums...", going on the mention Ambient Collection followed by FON Mixes. While on the back cover it states "The third in the art of...series". While both of the statements unto themselves are true, it leads one to believe that they are related truths, when in fact "Songs From the Victorious City" (Dudley & Coleman) was the first in the series, and the Ambient Collection is not involved (and it really isn't that mixed anyway). I would however vote that Ambient Collection get an honorary position in this series, would Drum and Bass Collection care to step down and give to one more deserving? Hell, Art Of Silence (which I like by the way) is more deserving! DRUM and BASS - two more 4-letter words I'd rather not be hearing for a while. I remeber it was this "Abuse" version from Whisful Thinking, she was 'playing' at the very beginning of the film. Also, I just checked The Internet Movie Database (http://imdb.com/): The film is from 1987 and they actually do list "Abuse" on the soundtrack - but I don't know whether thay mean the CD or the actual tunes in the movie.
