Maybe I'm just in a good mood or something, but I'd almost call this the perfect piece of music. Is there any clue as to how much of the sound is due to AoN and how much to the WoW remix? For example, is the beat very different on the other two versions? Please tell us how it sounds... it's EXCELLENT. i was very pleasantly surprised, as i didn't think it would be that good, mainly because 'concept albums' generally suck. this is narrated throughout by well-known actor John Hurt (although Paul Morley's voice does crop up in the first and last tracks). the album is more like one piece, split up into various movements - with a common vocal refrain appearing at regular intervals throughout the album. the album is a mixture of classical, techno, drum and bass, and even rap (on a couple of tracks). that doesn't sound good, but it really works. there's even a little snippet of Moments In Love thrown in towards the end. it's so OBVIOUSLY a TCH production, as it's very lush and clean-sounding. all in all....VERY good. l8r. - -- Smiley spares list at http://come.to/SmileyWeb # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info ztt" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email ztt@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # ZTT discography available at http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?ztt ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Feb 1999 20:04:09 +0100 (MET) From: Joerg Fitzner Subject: (ztt) Just an opinion Hello People! Yesterday was such a special surprise to me, that I've got to write to you. Yesterday, I received a tape copy of the new Art Of Noise album (the one that Smiley wrote about earlier) - whatever its name will be. And the surprise was that it's in fact incredibly great! Absolutely UNBELIEVABLE!!! I haven't made a secret of the fact that I had very low expectations of a new AON album, before. Even though I knew the AON _was_ great, the 'Dream On' 12" didn't change my suspicious preconceptions (since I knew that WOW _is_ great). Anyway, now that I have heard the new one, I'm deeply impressed. The AON did it again! And I'm really happy about that. Moreover I'm happy about the pleasure it is to listen to such great music! I won't try start to describe how it sounds or which colour it's got. But I'm sure anybody who liked the old AON will love the new one as well! Somehow it's got their trademark, although it's totally different. It's magic! I began losing my faith in TCH's productions, but this truly proves me wrong! He still can, if he wants, make the album of the year. "Ladies and Gentlemen: The Art Of Noise!" Let's have a party!
