This version is slightly different to the original: # it beginns with guitar # in the middle (at around 2:50) there is normally this jungle/elephant sample, but in this version isn`t this sample, there is a guitar solo at this place. I`ve heard all my versions but it doesn`t appear on my records. Hello Zangers, I was listening to some techno music that was playing at the gym, and the= lyrics `Why does it hurt when my heart misses the beat=B4 were spoken in the bac= kground of one of the songs.=20 This song had nothing to do with Dr. Mabuse (ie no remix), and it contain= ed no voice or music samples from the original. The only connection was the ph= rase described above. This gets me to wondering -- since I heard this phrase in another song, c= ould it be that its actually a direct reference to a passage in German or other literature? How much of Propaganda=B4s _Secret Wish_ is a direct reference to the his= torical literature? I know that Mabuse was a character in early German film, but= not much more. Anybody out there enlightened about the subject? Fay says MacGowan's new unreleased music kicks hard and "is pretty republican as well - not Newt Gingrich Republican." That means: Pro-Irish, anti-Brit vis-a-vis The Troubles. Fay said while he and MacGowan shared half a bottle of gin one night in New York last week "there was not one line of coke or heroin." (MacGowan has been fairly public and unrepentant about his prior drug use.) "He's in top form." Of his lack of new music since 1997, MacGowan blamed and cursed the record company, ZTT, and said "We haven't even tried to get a deal in the States." All that should change later this year. As MacGowan, who still sports a decaying set of choppers, spoke with a young Irish woman, she fell to the floor. "It's my charisma," joked MacGowan. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info ztt" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email ztt@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # ZTT discography available at http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?ztt ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Jun 2000 06:42:33 -0400 From: mike_reardon@am.exch.agilent.com Subject: (ztt) Shane MacGowan show in Boston Hi; For a review of Shane's recent performance, check out http://www.boston.com/dailyglobe2/179/living/Rock_n_roll_rugby_with_Shane_Ma cGowan+.shtml Wish I had known he was coming to town, but unfortunately I missed the show.
