From: ian@feedback.com (Ian Peel) Subject: One-off Projects Date: 03 Jan 1980 12:57:06 GMT Having been away from the list for some time I was wondering what y'all thought of the singles released by Tara, L.a.z.y. and All Saints 1.9.7.5? I personally think that Tara's single is the best ZTT single of the past couple of years. - -- - - Ian. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: ian@feedback.com (Ian Peel) Subject: 808 State Track Listing Date: 03 Jan 1980 13:48:06 GMT Here it is, the finished track listing for the State To State album - which can ONLY be obtained by POST, (send email to get details from 808state@feedback.com). 1. Intro a previously unreleased short edit of 106 mixed in with State To State from the Quadrastate album merges into the awesome... 2. Cubik (Live at On Air, Tokyo, Japan. June 1993) Killer live version of one of 808's best known tracks, recorded on their last world tour. If you have never seen 808 live this is your only chance to hear Darren giving it loads on the mic! 3. Yacuza is a new track from the Fon sessions for their 1995 album. This may also be a single next year - so hear it here first! 4. Lemons is the previously unreleased (and never to be released again!) version of Lemon - - from the Gorgeous Disco Disc / Forecast LP - the Rhythm Device Mix. It's a storming acid attack (and much better than Lemon in my opinion!) 5. 20:20 This is yet another previoulsy unreleased remix from the Gorgeous sessions - the infamous Sax Mix of Stormin Norman! 6. La Donna Bionica Originally recoprded for Gorgeous, but left off in faviour of the State To State CD. 7. Repa Repo Yes, that is how it's spelt! It's the LIVE version of Reaper Repo, recorded at the Wembly Conference Centre in November of 1992. This is the track where Darren made a cup of tea live on stage during the performence! 8. Diana was recorded for the as-yet-un-named 1995 album, but was set aside for this album! 9. Fear new track featuring Graham at his film-sampling best! 10. King Quil this new track had a workin title of Marvin! 11. Jacskon Fraction a wacky sample-driven track with a wicked bassline 12. Control The finale covers the history of 808 State. This track was recorded (but left off of) Quadrastate, then re-worked for Gorgeous as Contrique, then the original was remixed for State To State. As all the best ads say - this album will NOT be available in the shops! So email yer details to 808state@feedback.com ...! - -- - - Ian. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: ian@feedback.com (Ian Peel) Subject: 808 State - State To State CD Date: 03 Jan 1980 13:24:12 GMT Have y'all subscribed to State To State to get the new, exclusive 808 State album for free yet? If not, why not?! In a fit of madness designed to make life look better 808 State's new album album has been delayed (again) so the sleeve and packaging can be designed by none other than our favourite desighners - Designers Republic! DR have many sleeves (and a feature in Wired!) to their credit. These include Sun Electric, The Orb, Age Of Chance, Cabaret Voltaire, Pop Will Eat Itself, Nine Inch Nails, Soho, Newspeak, Coco Steel & Lovebomb, 3MB and London's Victoria & Albert Museum. We're really excited that DR have taken the job of packaging State To State. They are big 808 fans and promise to take the 808 State design legacy off into a new orbit. The track listing for State To State looked better than ever when it went off to the pressing plant, I'll post it over to the ztt list for your drooling delight in a moment. Check this out! - -- - - Ian. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: ian@feedback.com (Ian Peel) Subject: Re: Re: One-off Projects Date: 03 Jan 1980 14:17:05 GMT > I really liked the Tara single too. Good stuff and I'm looking forward to > her next single (hopefully soon?!). Er, not exactly, no more from Tara on ZTT. Shame as her scheduled second single (Experience) was really good, despite a v. poor Ollie J Mix. Her album was good too. > L.A.Z.Y. I have not yet been able to get a copy of so I can't really say, > but I do know it is on the Zance sub-label along with All Saints. There will be nothing more from Zance (probably), ZTT's new sub-label is Seven. There is a Seven promo out now called Club Lonely by Sam Ellis. > All > Saints on the other hand I do have and can positively say that it is > really bad for a Ztt single. They wont be with Metmarphosis (who produced, performed, remixed Silver Shadow). > Do you know what Adamski's involvment is with LAZY? Did he remix or > produce it? Is he on it? Anyone? LAZY is Adamski with Loretta Heywood. Middle of the road sort of mellow house. Good sleeve though. There will probably be a second single. - - Ian. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: ian@feedback.com (Ian Peel) Subject: Re: Re: Re: One-off Projects Date: 03 Jan 1980 16:43:03 GMT >>> Tara > What happened? Ian, do you know of any good record/CD > stores in the UK that will deal overseas that gets all of the Ztt stuff > and the promos? It's really hard to find the smaller items. Hmmm... I don't really shop anywhere for such things. On the rare- stuff-from-the-80s front, try Energy, Cherrywood Lodge, Polperro Road, West Looe, Cornwall, PL13 2JE... Mind, I have found one shop just up the road from me that does second hand records and the like and has used promo CD singles at a very cheap *25p*! Over the past year or two have found quite a lot of ZTT promo (stickered) CD singles like SSL, General Max, Closing Of the Year, All Saints, Tune Splits, Shades Gettin Away, Mantra, HonkyDoodleDay EP, Tara radio promo and also 808's YMO and Quicy remix CD singles!! Trouble is they don't have a mail order service...! - - Ian. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Ian Peel Subject: record shops Date: 03 Jan 1980 13:23:52 GMT regards the recent talk of decent UK shops for ztt stuff, I stumbled across all sorts of interesting things in Record & Tape Exchange in Camden Town, north London yesterday... Like several L.a.z.y cd singles for 50p, 808 State 10x10 promo 12"s (first and second issues) for 1.00 UKP, some Honky CD singles for 50p, some Lovestation (Ped's new band) 12"s for 1.00 UKP, ... etc etc I bought 808's Gimme Shelter 12" for 1.00 UKP and Nasty Rox's Escape from Ney York CD single for 50p. It is still banned there. 8/ The new series of The Word started last week with a new mix of Olympic by 808. 9/ Paul Morley writes the sleeve notes/essay for the new New Order compilation. 808, Mixmaster Morris and Arthur Baker (among others) were at the launch party in Manchester. 10/ Shades Of Rhythm's debut for the Public Demand label - 'The Wandering Dragon EP' - was released a couple of weeks ago. - - Ian. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: ian@feedback.com (Ian Peel) Subject: Re: 808 fan club CD/express/nastyrox Date: 03 Jan 1980 15:58:56 GMT In your message dated Sunday 4, December 1994 you wrote : > Can anyone (ian?) confirm if this CD is actually going to ship before > Christmas. Slightly reminiscent of DR's work with Sun Electric perhaps... Several thousand excellent flyers of unique DR artwork & info on joining have been printed. They feature a variation of the album design and form part one of the new 808 State design dynasty which will continue with the State To State CD and the new album for ZTT in 1995. Printed in metallic silver and flourescent orange, the artwork features some subliminal graphic codes that are only revealed on examining the actual CD artwork. Those mad DR-types!
